Media is a huge part of day to day life in this generation. Media influences us to see things differently, and change our prospective on life. Media helps us know what goes on around the world, helps us interact with one another, lets people share their experiences in life exc. What they've seen around the world, where and where not to eat, where and where not to go. There are popular sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr. All those social media sites lets you show and identify who you are. One amazing thing that I have experienced with social media and others as well is that you find and meet so many new people that have the same interests! It makes it easier for teens to meet other people from all around the world. Social media I find is one of the most important things in the generation. Everything is online. Schooling, news, banking, and even jobs.

The most important media to me is probably Facebook or Snapchat. The one important thing to me is communication. I like knowing that i have ways to contact people right away. I don't use Facebook that much for anything else but Messenger. I mostly just contact family members such as my mom, and grandparents because they have no idea what Snapchat even is. I use Snapchat to contact friends and i love how you have an option to post a story to show all your friends what your doing.

My main purpose of Media is communicating and my schooling. I also love doing research on things such as serial killers and abandon places around the world. It influences me because it teaches me about History that's happened around the world with why places are abandoned and what caused it. Also influences my schooling for my online course and in the past when i was in High school to do research for projects or assignments.

As much as Media is amazing and helps with so many things there are major problems with it. There sadly has a bunch of drama, cyber bullying, hackers, and is very dangerous. Things like Facebook you tend to put a lot of your personal information for the world to see. Anyone can add you and they can get in and look at all of your personal information which is dangerous because they can find out where you live. Snapchat is also a problem because its all based on pictures. Again, anyone can add you and if you accept it they can see what you look like and still get some information about you. There have been many cases where girls and even guys have had to deal with stalkers, and have even been kidnapped because their information got out there. You have to be careful with who you add, and what you put on the internet because even if you delete things off Facebook or any social media someone would be able to find it.

August 14th 2003 was when the huge black out happened around parts of North america, Eastern U.S, and Ontario. When the blackout was happening i was about 5 years old. I remember my mom, brothers, and I just came from a walk and we noticed that the power was out. I also remember a storm happening that night as well. That night my family and i lit some candles all around the house and played board games like we usually do when the power goes out. It wasn't hard getting use to the power going out because at the age of 5 i was constantly out side with friends going on adventures. The only thing that was hard to get use to was going to the washroom without the lights on. I wish that there was another black out for 24 hours so i could see how my friends, family, and I would react. Without power i feel like I could finally do things I've wanted to do or even just notice whats going on in my surroundings. Don't get me wrong i love my phone and i constantly have it on me to listen to music and to talk to people but sometimes i just get so board and wish i didn't always feel like i needed to be on my phone. When the black out happened i wasn't bored what so ever. For this assignment I asked my boyfriend if he remembered when the power went out that year and he told me all he could remember about the night it went out was that him and his family went to Licks because they were handing out free ice cream so it all didn't go to waste since their was no power to freeze it. I really do wish the power went out for a while so I remembered what if felt like to not have to rely on my phone or the TV.

Q.1+2-Through out the years the expectations of men have really changed. It went from men having to be the "bread winner". Women back then were stay home wives because their husbands didn't want them to work so the kids, and mother would clean, and prepare dinner. In this generation and a few generations before that there have been the "popular people" in schools. I find that's where expectations come from now. In High Schools the popular guys tend to wear khaki pants, plain white or black shirt, plaid shirt, and usually wear Vans or Nike shoes. For girls we have outfits people like to call "the topical white bitch outfit" Its black leggings, with moccasins, green medium length jacket, and any sort of shirt. I find that the girls who wear the "new trends" that everyone else is wearing they get noticed. For guys its not so much that way. I find that girls are way harsher when it comes to how they look and expectations for them. Another expectation for guys is that they aren't really supposed to show "feelings". Other guys like to call it being a "pussy". Another thing that bothers me that girls are supposed to be expectations for girls are to be the perfect weight. Not too skinny because guys don't like cuddling bone but not too big because being so called "fat" is disgusting. So we are supposed to be in between. Also need to have a perfect butt and boobs. Sadly no matter what people will judge you even if you so call fit the certain expectations.

3.A few things people use to alter their appearance are tattoos, makeup, plastic surgery, implants, fake tans, dye hair, piercings, face lift, weight reduction, skin treatments, fake nails, work out to lose weight, get a hair cut/style differently, extensions (hair or even eyelash), contacts,

The top artists that I find have their songs censored on the radio all the time are Drake, Lil Wayne, Eminem, and Nikki Minaj.

Let’s get started by the Black eyed peas was originally called “let’s get retarded” but had to change the name due to the hate they would get.

Forget you by Cee Lo Green is really called “fuck you” The song being about a girl using him for money but leaving for another man with tons of money. Replacing “fuck you” like everyone else’s reaction to that happening having it replaced as “forget you” for the radio.

Beautiful girl by Sean Kington. A song about a man who is suicidal because of a girl leaving him. Every word “suicide” was changed to denial for the radio.

Tell me baby by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. The line “life can be a little shitty” was changed to “life can be a little kitty.”

One huge song that went through hell and back for censoring is the song the real Slim Shady by Eminem. The song as everyone knows talks about a lot of inappropriate things like talking about Tom Green humping a moose and masturbation. But thing song was censored once and they were fined by the FCC for not being censored enough.
