Just after graduating high school, Buck had started training colts. When he began, one of his friends had introduced him to Ray Hunt. Ray Hunt had a kind hand and spirited mind. He believed in treating horses right, the way in etiquette you would to a person. Buck was not up for this "horse whispering" from this horse trainer. Horse whispering, as I see it, is just speaking with calm hands and a calm mind. No abuse in this act shall be made.

"You can't just buy a horse carrots and love on them. That makes a contemptuous, spoiled horse, bribery doesn't work with horses," Buck Brannaman had said in his movie documentary, Buck.
