He works in the records department, which means he changes dates and such on stories and events. He knows the Party brainwashes people and does not like it and wants to rebel.

O'Brien- main antagonist of 1984, he is a member of the Inner Party. He is very charismatic and fools Winston into thinking he is his friend. But really he is just fooling Winston the whole time.

Julia- she is Winstons love interest and is very rebellious, especially sexually against the Party. She looks at everything realistically abut believes the Party is unbeatable. She often encourages Winston to go outside of his comfort zone which is how his rebellious side begins.

Mr. Charrington- owner of the junk shop where Winston purchases his diary which is illegal. He is secretly a member of the thought police though.
