         <description><![CDATA[<div>I use the some of the writing strategies with my 8th graders in preparing their argument statements for our debates. Having them think about their stance, find a piece of factual information to support it, and then write down a brief paragraph to articulate their stance to the class. All that being said I definitely see ways I can make writing more of a interwoven staple.</div>]]></description>

Ronny's comment on the amount of time it takes to assess correctly is taxing rings true and a great solution to this is smaller class sizes so teachers can realistically give timely feedback.  </div>]]></description>

         <title>We&#39;ve been working on looking at how word choice and punctuation add to the bigger meaning of a piece of writing. A few students get it, which is pretty amazing at this grade level, others are moving in that direction but need to be able to connect the literary elements they are recognizing to the bigger meaning of the work. Vanderbilt&#39;s Literary Analysis Wheel is helpful for working on this concept.</title>
