Photography today, occupies what is referred to as an expanded field of practices, that enables the photographer to make and think about images through the lens of inter-connected disciplines. Photographic technology enables the camera and associated software to render the world as still, moving, and 3D imagery. The image has the potential to be manifest as physical print, a coded data-file, as a projection, on screens of all shapes and sizes and indeed surrounding us in our everyday environments through advertising, architecture, clothing and food-packaging. The image is everywhere and exists as a multiplicity of material forms. For this brief you are asked to consider your own familiar ways of working with photography and to expand, open-out and position them within this contemporary context of the photographic in which approaches might collide and fall apart, or coherently (or even incoherently) unify. You are encouraged to be experimental and to develop multiple practical outcomes.

Instead of jumping right into making new images I thought it would be more interesting and back up my point a bit more if I just searched key words within my own phone camera roll that I think represent the vastness of imagery that is already available to us. The fact that it’s there on my phone as a picture or a screenshot, is proof of how overwhelmingly images are all around us. 

 

Anywhere I could think that you might find images I searched in my camera roll and the images I pulled were examples of what came up as a search result. 

This also adds a layer of interest to how the development of photography as a medium has been influenced by technology as this process relies on the AI that operates how photos finds images related to the keywords I type in.
