This photo is taken of the beautiful blue city of Chefchauoen, located in Morocco. The name of this city derives from the Rift word of "crown" or "antlers" alluding to the peaks that surround the city. I specifically chose this picture because of how stunning the blue on all of the buildings looked to me. I think the background of the mountains and peaks that surround it also are extremely beautiful.

This image captures the spectacular sandstone city of Petra, in Jordan. This angelic city was built in 3rd century BC by the Nabataeans, who carved different palaces, temples, tombs, and so much more. It has become one of the most visited and famous World Heritage Sites in the world. This image immediately caught my eye, when I was searching through images of Jordan. The pure gravity of this building carved into the stone and rock is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

This image captures the gorgeous Nasir al-Mulk Mosque, also known as the Pink Mosque, in the city of Shiraz, in Iran. This mosque was built during the Qajar dynasty rule of Iran. Construction of this building began in 1876 and finished in 1888. The makeup and architectural design of this mosque is composed of Orsi: Persian Stained Glass. This specific type of stained glass method was first discovered in Syria during the 7th century and is composed of a mixture of wood and a colorful glass. This particular image stood out to me because of how beautiful the stained glass was and the detail within the interior of this mosque. The colors that reflect inside are just so remarkable.

This peninsula is inhabited by the Shihuh tribe and is predominately governed by Oman with certain parts governed by the United Arab Peninsula. The mountains nesting in the background are the Western Hajar mountains. This picture caught my eye right away because of how beautiful the contrast between the mountains and water looked together. I think it is beautiful to think about people inhabiting and living in this space.

This mosque is better known as the Sultanahmet Mosque and it was built in the early 17th century, more specifically, 1609 and 1616, during the reign of Amhed I. This mosque is decorated in hand-painted blue tiles and at nighttime, the mosque is bathed in a beautiful blue light that fills the spirit of the space. This mosque has been named a UNESCO world heritage site. All of these pyramids were built during the 4th dynasty of the old kingdom of ancient Egypt between 2600 and 2500 BC. These pyramids are some of the largest pyramids ever to be built in Ancient Egypt. These grandiose pyramids are often used as common emblems of Ancient Egypt in the Western imagination. These specific pyramids were popularized in Hellenistic times. These pyramids are not only the oldest pyramids but also the only ones still in existence. This particular photo stood out to me because I personally feel like it is such an iconic photo of Egypt and this image comes to mind whenever I think of Egypt.

This striking image captures the holy and historic Dome of the rock, an ancient landmark located in the holy city of Jerusalem, Israel. This holy building is the oldest Islamic monument, dating back to being built in the early 7th century, CE. This building sits on a flat elevated plaza known to Muslims as asl-Haram al-Sharif, translating to "The Noble Sanctuary". To Jews, this building is known as the Temple Mount, the site where the Temple of Jerusalem once stood. According to Muslims, the rock above which the dome is constructed is the spot form which the Prophet Muhammed was taken up into heaven for an encounter with God. Nearby this location, Muslims believe that the Prophet was there from Mecca on the night of this encounter. This specific caught my eye because of how beautiful the gold and blue contrast have with each other. This also is an image I have consistently seen throughout my learning about historic cites within Jerusalem.

This is also known as a very popular pilgrimage site in the city of Harissa.
