I can't say that I have 100% engagement with all students across all the grades. I'm concerned that there's less accountability for students to participate because they're allowed to turn off their videos. I want to be able to see that my students are working because that's another way i can assess if they're learning. We also need to address why they want to turn off their videos and help them work through that discomfort so they know that even when things are difficult, they are strong enough to persevere! Working with students who are labeled special ed. or needing ESL services does not mean they cannot do grade level work. Once you look past the label and get to know each individual learner, that is when you close the "achievement gap". I have always believed that all students can learn. They learn different multiple intelligence. Sometimes we have to just have to think outside of the box and find ways to reach all students. We are working from a level of unbalanced education system if we are students in Urban area or people of color.
