This can involve the recording of data when performing experiments in the lab. It also occurs when communicating in the discourse. 

This distribution does not only happen at the professional. We see the use of these within schools of young children who are just learning new interests in the discourse of science or even a high school teenager learning to move to an upper level Biology. 

At some point in time eventually all of us will have participated int the distribution of this genre.

These often are given a sub title or heading in order for the reader to identify the different portions involved. 

The rhetorical moves involved in these consist of often abrupt changes and very different portions of information within the sections.
