If we disagree with the text, we will try to find any error in the text even if they are not that important. Therefore, we should foster a habit for listening what other people are saying.

We view text with our own bias just like the author writes it with bias as well. And too much disagreement or agreement could limit our ability to think deeply. To counter this, we need to practice stepping back and asking what others might think, which means proper discussion is sometimes necessary. This could help us gain more insight into the context.

If we agree with it, we can follow the author’s statement smoothly. If we don’t agree, it may affect us the emotion or may miss the true meaning that the author want to convey, but we will spontaneously think about our own ideas.

In order to develop the habit of considering multiple perspective when reading, we can have group discussion and listen to other’s perspective. On top of that, we should not agree the author’s perspective at first, if we do so, we will actively start identifying the article on our own perspective.

What we can do is to not forcing ourselves directly into one perspective and to read articles without being emotional but objective.
