         <description><![CDATA[<div>2. What are three characteristics of a standard? <br>One characteristic of a standard is that it can never be fully precise, as Neil deGrasse Tyson explained. There will always be some variation in the results of a measurement. Another characteristic is that a standard is only what the community - for example, take Europe post French Revolution - agrees upon for that specific measurement, and there is a lot of room for error within it. A third and final characteristic for a standard is the precision of its measurement is only as precise as the design of the tool being used. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>3. Why is it important to establish a standard?<br><br>It is important to establish a standard so everyone references and understands the measurement. The measurement will be the basis for everyone that uses it. For example in the History of Metrics Edpuzzle, the universal measurements in science and medicine is the metric system. This acts as the standard for these departments, which allows everyone to understand the quantities. Without a standard people would get confused as to how to label an object. In the Good Hemp Seed or 'Garbage' article famers want to establish a standard for hemp seeds. Since there is no standard people don't know what measurement to label there hemp seeds.   </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. A basic measurement that is universally accepted.<br>2. It has to be measurable to ensure that it is the same no matter where you are. For example, Neil DeGrasse Tyson explained that the reference for a kilogram was changed to a silicon ball. This was done so that you can count the atoms to make sure that the ball is truly a kilogram.<br>3. It is important to establish a standard so that communication and the amounts are clear. In the Metric System Matters video, it was mentioned that a satellite crashed because of a mix up of measurements. If there was a standard, then this mix up wouldn't occur.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1) According to Neil DeGrasse Tyson, standard is measurement which we all agree to, one that is universally accepted.<br>2) Three characteristics of a standard are it must be agreed upon, easily understood and attainable, and is never 100% precise. Neil DeGrasse Tyson explained you can only measure things to approximation. <br>3) It is important because without standards communicating and comparing measurements would be much more difficult and confusing. In the Hemp article, it shows that because they do not have a standard of a hemp seed measurement it complicates the whole process for the farmers and others in the industry.</div>]]></description>
