I noticed that in this movie, Hiccup struggles with self-doubt about his leadership abilities as he often relies on Toothless as both his partner and a source of confidence. So, when Toothless falls in love with the Light Fury and begins to distance himself, Hiccup faces an internal crisis- he fears that without Toothless, he is not strong enough to lead Berk.

As the dangers increase and Berk becomes unsafe, Hiccup must decide whether to stay and fight or relocate his people. This forces him to grow as a leader, which I think allowed him to learn that true leadership is about making difficult sacrifices for the greater good.
