In the realistic fiction novel Wonder by R.J. Palacio the protagonist is August Pullman. In the beginning of the novel August Pullman can be described as timid. August says, " Okay, so I admit that the first day of school I was so nervous the butterflies in my stomach where more like pigeons flying around my insides" (Palacio 35). This shows that Auggie was scared the first day of school. But towards the end of the novel Auggie is comfortable. He states, " Thank you for making me go to school" (Palacio 309). This shows that he liked school and was happy and glad he went. In conclusion, August's character traits are timid and comfortable. Another character in the novel Wonder is Via. Via is a static character. A character trait to describe Via is understanding. She states in the beginning, "Mom and Dad would always say that I was always the most understanding girl in the world." (Palacio 82). This shows that Via is nice and a selfless kid. Another character trait for Via is responsible. Via states, "Were people nice to you (Plalacio 96)? This shows that she checks in on Auggie and knows how to look out for him. Therefore Via's character traits in the novel Wonder are understanding and responsible. In conclusion those are two out of the many characters in the novel Wonder.

Int he realistic fiction novel Wonder by R.J. Palacio there are many themes. But one that stands out is never judge a book by its cover. This means that if someone looks or acts different don't judge them, get to know who they are on the inside. This relates to the novel because the kids don't get to know August at first because he looks different. They would not hang out with him. At the end of the novel the kids learn this and starts to hang out with him. Amos states, ' Leave them alone dude, said Amos with Miles and Henry behind him" (Palacio 267). This shows that people are sticking up for Auggie and helped him. Therefore, that is the theme that stands out in the realistic fiction novel Wonder by R.J Palacio.

I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars. This is because the book was full of drama and adventure. My favorite part was when Amos, Miles, and Henry stood up for August at the field trip.It showed that the kids didn't want to listen to Julian anymore and forgot about all the things that were going on. My least favorite part was when Daisy, Augusts dog died. It was a very sorrowful moment and it made me very emotional.Through the story August has overcome the bullies, and overcome the fear of middle school. August has made many friends and many memories. In conclusion i would rate the realistic fiction novel Wonder by R.J Palacio 5 out of 5 stars.
