March 2020
The federal court of Australia reported numerous data breaches during March 2020 to their database resulting in the publishing of hundreds of names of individuals applying for protection visas in Australia. A spokesperson for the court labeled the incident "a major systematic failure" and outlined the measures the court is taking to rectify the situation. This breach puts the safety of hundreds of individuals at risk as their personal information and circumstances were all available to view online, meaning that people from their past can now locate and potentially harm them if they ever return to their country of origin. These breaches highlights the growing complexities and obstacles Refugees and Asylum seekers face when they are simply exercising their rights.

March 20, 2020
The greek government passed legislation at the beginning of March to deal with the current overcrowded conditions and also as a preventative measure against the coronavirus within overcrowded refugee camps. Since March 20, over 600 refugees and asylum seekers have been transferred to mainland Greece from the island Lesbos where the Moria refugee camp is located. The Moria camp hosts around 19,000 refugees which is over six times its capacity. The cramped living conditions paired with a lack of resources and proper hygiene, create a potentially disastrous environment for COVID-19 to wreak havoc upon already vulnerable individuals.
