  • If these rights aren't used - suspects might be compelled or forced to answer questions against will.
  • people disadvantaged by this are those who can't communicate well or lack the knowledge to negotiated with authorities such as: Aboriginals or people with disabilities.

  • Delays can be problematic for those in cases: increasing costs with taking case to court, emotional stress and hardship and reducing witnesses ability to retell their story/evidence.
  • If it takes too long, some just abandon cases - too expensive.
