The Simpsons live in the city of Springfield. As the movie begins, there is an ever worsening issue of pollution in the lake, however this problem was fixed due to Lisa Simpson's efforts. After that, Homer got a pig that he became very attached to, causing his son, Bart, to feel neglected.

Call to Adventure

When Homer goes to the dump to deliver a silo of feces from his new pig, he gets a call from his friend saying that Lard Lad is giving out free doughnuts. This causes Homer to rush to the lake to dump the feces and head over to Lard Lad, unknowingly making their city the most polluted one in the US. The corrupted head of the EPA then seals their town in an unbreakable glass dome.

When Homer wakes up, he travels through the snow and eventually finds a lone old woman. She uses throat singing to give Homer a vision which makes Homer realize the error of his ways. He departs, making stead for Springfield.

When the townspeople find out that Homer was the one who poisoned the lake, the whole town mobs his house. While running away, the family sees Maggie jump into the sandbox which had been used to cover a sinkhole. They end up outside of the dome and the sinkhole collapses, trapping them.

Eventually they arrive at a fair where Homer sees a game where he can win a truck if he rides a motorcycle around the inside of a ball, which he wins. The family lives in Alaska for a short time, however after finding out about the EPA's plot to blow up Springfield, the whole family, except for Homer, returns to help. When he finds out they left even though he was opposed, homer rushes off and falls on an iceberg, knocking him out, and drifts away.

Approach

Homer arrives at the dome and climbs up the side. When he jumps inside, he knocks down a group of people attempting to escape, worsening the hatred of the townspeople. He finds his family and eventually reconciles with his son.

Homer, using the skill he gained when winning his truck, rode a motorcycle with Bart up the side of the dome with the bomb. He made his way to the opening and Bart threw the bomb out of the dome.

Treasure

The bomb blows up on top of the dome, causing it to shatter and free the town. The plan that the EPA had set in motion was exposed and their branch was dissolved.

In the end, Homer learned the value of a community and to cherish the people he cares for.
