I’m hoping that even at shoulder dystocia station we can act out as real scenario then practice the maneouvre. This is REAL situation which we may encounter in future yet we may not have the chance to see or withness any emergency throughout this posting. Thanks to this workshop we can have drill on what we should do.

I did prepare before the workshop however it was still messy when trying to act it out. I knew there are steps to manage each situation yet there are so many roles. Thanks to workshop, I tried to understand each roles in doing which steps of management, especially PPH station really made me clear of the flow of management by each roles. In short, the person giving instruction must be very firm and systematic, plus each roles must be clear what should be done next. And I learnt that i must raise voice and inform every action 😂

Practice makes perfect, this workshop will be a great exposure for us! Before the workshop, i thought there is camera filming what we are doing, so must be well prepared as it might be posted to youtube😂 Never expect I can cover the 4 topics in one night and put them into practice this morning. It’s really different if i just read it from book compare to real life situation. You might have read a lot but when a patient is fitting/bleeding massively in front of you, how much can you really do? Although we studied all the topics before hand and somewhat hafal the sequence of management for exam purpose (hihihi), it was really an eye opener as somewhat most of were so blur on how to manage the situation. It taught us that as important as theoretical knowledge is, without experience you can't help out much. 

We also learned that no one man can manage emergency situation alone but at the same time too many cooks spoils the soup. Therefore a balance of teamwork is needed to manage emergencies like this effectively. Nit to mention having a good leader helps (hihihi).

Our lecturers are definitely way better than all the YouTube videos that I’ve watched! 
All the concepts that I didn’t understand were cleared up! 

Theory and hands on are really different. After doing the hands on, I can sense the great responsibility of a medical team. yea TEAMWORK is an essential element that I learned through this activity. The DECISION MAKING needs to be quick and accurate because every second counts. 

While having fun and learning, I also know that the situations are very very real and I will face it one day in the hospital, but that time will be on real patients, not the mannequin. In conclusion, this obstetric workshop has opened my eyes and widened my vision.
