They are both contemporary designers. Humberto launched some design tasks right after they graduated, mostly for his friends, and opened his own studio in So Paulo. Fernando joined him shortly after and applied for an internship at the 1983 Bienal de So Paulo. From this point forward, Fernando and Humberto started their creative design and manufacturing partnership and made their first pieces of furniture, objects, and installations out of commonplace materials like cardboard, rope, cloth, wood, plastic tubes, and aluminum wire that were also used as scraps and waste.

The Campana brothers transform ordinary objects into spectacular ones by incorporating these scraps and various materials into their meticulously crafted pieces. They do this by carrying forward local histories and identities, particularly those of Brazil's neglected populations. The Campana brothers first attracted attention with their Uncomfortable series of metal seats in the late 1980s, and then shot to international popularity in the 1990s by creating chairs out of odd pieces of wood that were nailed and glued together. The instantly recognizable mop-like VERMELHA CHAIR, made of more than 500 yards of rope, and the FAVELA CHAIR, inspired by the inventive residents of local favelas (shantytowns), who build their homes from whatever materials come to hand, have both become icons. Both are still produced by the Italian company EDRA and can be found in museum collections all over the world.

The Campana Brothers aimed to use their designs as a transformation tool through social and educational programs. Because of the social and economic gap that existed in Brazil during the time they began designing (1980's), they wanted to create a more sustainable productive chain to diminish that gap. Their works merged the worlds of craftsmanship, furniture/social outreach, and pop influences in ways that have made the their pieces some of the most iconic of contemporary design.

The design of ''Humberto Side Table'' by Campana brothers is inspired by surrealism style. The leg of the table and this armchair are similar by using the material of gold and they both look like human's legs. They both transform the ordinary objects to bizarre.
