Author Ben Herman: In My Not So Humble Opinion. “Paul Ryan.” In My Not So Humble Opinion, 28 Apr. 2017, .

This article summarizes the way Paul Ryan approached the comics he wrote for both DC and Marvel during the Silver Age. He went on to illustrate comics about the Flash, Superman, Green Lantern, Spiderman, and the West Coast Avengers. He focused on mainly the artistic side of his work rather than the content side. He worked quickly and efficiently to ensure that he did the best work possible. His style of art never changed even when he went from Marvel to DC. He was a talented artist and kept his technique the same whether he was doing illustrations for Green lantern or the West Coast Avengers. He was never given the opportunity to fully incorporate a more deeper symbolic plots in comics.

Continuum, 2009.

This book talks about most of the silver age heroes and how they were influenced by the events of the Cold War. Paul Ryan illustrated some if not most of these heroes as well. Most of these heroes had been created through some kind of radiation or nuclear explosion. It is a call to the nuclear standoff we had with the USSR for the better part of 40 years. Paul Ryan along with many other famous writers and artists drew these prime heroes from the events of the cold war and WW2 and developed on these ideas using important parts of our foreign policy during these global conflicts.

This comic pictures Magneto on the front with all the heroes around him. In this comic there is a final matchup against Magneto. The Avengers finally defeat him with the help of Quicksilver. However, this issue also discussed the progression of Scarlet Witch and how she is becoming more and more powerful by the day. After Magneto's demise she breaks away from him and joins Immortus and becomes a lot more powerful.

This comic has themes of focus on the protagonist and deals with a metaphorical version of foreign intervention. In the comic there is conflict between two heroes: Hawkeye and US Agent. These two characters duke it out for the entirety of the comic. While this is happening, the other Avengers are voting on who the core 7 avengers should be and the others are just going to be placed on reserve.
