         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><mark>Prairies</mark></strong><br>- A prairie is something that is too wet to be a desert, but to dry to be a forest<br>- Almost 1/3 of Kansas is prairies <br>- Around 80% of a prairie is underground  <br><strong><mark><br>The Permian Sea</mark></strong></div><div>- This ocean contained animals such as the Mosaurs, a reptile that could grow up to 50 feet in length<br><br><strong><mark>Tallgrass Prairies National Preserve<br></mark></strong>- It is a 'sea of grass' that was formed out of The Permian Sea <br>- There is an abundance of animals, plants, reptiles, different species of birds, amphibians, and mammals that live there<br>- It used to cover more than 140 million acres of land, but now less than 4% exists because of agriculture purposes</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Kansas often has too much water, or not enough<br>- All of the rivers in Kansas eventually drain into the Mississippi River<br>- American Indians and early settlers  lives close to streams and rivers and their trails followed the rivers<br><strong><mark>The Ogallala Aquifer<br></mark></strong>- This water source was created millions of years ago<br>- It is used for irrigation because there hasn't been Western Kansas to grow corn<br>- Rivers are the only thing that can replenish the aquifer, but when it's low, the rivers sometimes drain the aquifer<br>------<br>- There are very few natural lakes in Kansas<br>- Many of these lakes are used for recreation and wildlife conservation<strong><mark><br></mark></strong>- Cheyenne Bottoms is a natural lake that has been turned into a wetland for migratory birds<br><br></div>]]></description>
