Add an image, video, link or text to illustrate your thoughts.]]> 2016-10-31 16:22:52 UTC https://padlet.com/salvadorejme/tbgmukckgfu3/wish/134280221 I think this poem illustrates how a women has the ability to do anything she sets her mind too.  She is not grounded to doing just one thing because she is woman.  It reminds of women's rights.  That we as women, have the right to do and become anything we want even though sometimes society puts a lot of emphasis on gender roles.  For example, women can't do certain things, like fix a car or do the "handy" work around the house.  These are all seen as things men should be doing and not women.  But times have changed and women can do a lot of things. Not only are we potentially about to elect a female into an office only previously held by males, there have been horrible accusations against the other candidate of sexual assault. When those accusations came to light many people made statements such as "What if that was your wife or daughter or sister?" It took women to come forward and say "Wait, why does it matter what relation an assaulted woman has to a man. They are human beings in their own right and no human being deserves that kind of treatment." I honestly believe that we as women have been oppressed for so long, that we don't even understand our own value. Not only are we humans with all the rights and responsibilities that come with that, we are just starting to understand that "wife" "mother" "daughter" are just titles.
