REactive vs. PROactive

Reactive problem solving: responding to a crisis/dilemma that requires attention/action in a very brief time frame. One is focused on resolving the matter. Ex: A fight breaks out in the lunch room.

Proactive problem solving: anticipated situation focuses your attention and triggers the problem-solving process before a crisis occurs. Ex: Starting a school-wide bullying prevention course at the beginning of the school year to prevent future fights from breaking out.

By following problem solving steps, less time may be required for resolving reactive problems, and in turn focusing on prevention and proactive problem solving.
