They are killing soccer! These is one of the most used phrases by soccer fans nowadays. The use of VAR in soccer has brought a lot of controversy among fans. VAR use has become mandatorial in all FIFA competitions, they say that it will bring justice, give confidence to referees and will eliminate controversial decisions. While instauring VAR would bring justice and freshness, these results wouldn't be appreciated by most soccer fans.

First, authorities say that soccer will be more dynamic, but this isn't true because VAR brings time wastage. Time is a vital resource in soccer matches. VAR decisions take a lot of time because they involve a careful analysis of the incident. This waste of time causes a lot of complications if a team is looking desesperately for a result. Also the fans feel let down because all this time may end in a decision against their team.

Second, is believed that VAR will improve the referee's performance and this argument is used to support it. Although some mistakes are corrected, VAR only causes referees to easily lose their confidence. For the bigger part of a match, the decisions made by the referee are the ones that control the game. But with the introduction of VAR there is a big possibility of referees losing confidence in their ability to officiate matches. They become too dependent on VAR and lose freedom in making independient decisions.

VAR only males soccer more tedious and unfair. For example, in the finals of the peruvian tournament in the year 2019, authorities introduced VAR for those two games, the result was terrible, an unfair red card for Alianza Lima caused a lot of controversy among soccer fans, the worst thing is that VAR supported the referee's decision to eject the Alianza Lima player when it was clear that it was a clean tackle. And also it took almost 10 minutes to make this decision. The result was clear, VAR was never included in any other game until now, this is only one prove of how unfair and tedious this could be for soccer fans.

As you can see, the introduction of VAR only brings problems and disturbs soccer fans. I hope this text helped people who didn´t like soccer to take a side in this discussion so we can raise our voice against the inclusion of this thing.
