2W Moral compass by Ashley

Type in a story of when YOU had the opportunity to follow your moral compass, or not. What did you do? Was is the right thing or the wrong thing? Why did you make that decision? Would you do something differently if you had the chance?

When I was a kid, I spent a short amount of time on a swim team. Well, before a meet one of the other kids had us over to their house-- which was really, reeeeaally nice. Now my family had everything we needed, we were happy enough, and we got by, but I had never seen a house this amazing before. Well... I must have learned a new "expression" that week which was "spoiled as a rat" because aside from the amazingness of this house, the only thing I can remember saying over and over again was "spoiled as a rat" out loud... to our teammates and the host. Looking back now I'm mortified. Here's this 8 year old girl, showing us around her beautiful house that she was sharing with us, and I was just a bitter grumpy little kid who spouted off terrible things the entire time. How must've that made her feel? How awkward must that have been for everyone else??? Why didn't anyone stop me from being such a jerk? Believe you me... if I ever had the chance I would stop little Bowler from being such a twerp. A good scolding would've done the trick.

He is always instigating arguments and fights and I had a long day that day. That day he tried to hit me while we were arguing and I grabbed his arm. I had it in my mind to push him and i was so mad maybe hurt him but instead I thought, 'What if I really hurt him? I know I could' so instead I let his arm go and just glared at him for a solid minute before walking away.

He wanted to play outside and I was keeping an eye on him for my mom while she was in the shower. I climbed on a chair and unlocked the front door, and let my brother outside. He ran down the street in only a diaper and he ran so far I could hardly see him. My mom freaked out and chased my brother down the street in a towel. I got in a LOT of trouble.

It was summer. I was with my brother at my grandparents house, we were having fun all day and doing nothing that was really important. The next day he got sick, really sick. He was laying in his bed all day and didn't want to get up for anything. The day before when we were at my grandparents house we made cookies, I loved them! Who doesn't like cookies? I sat around all day doing nothing and eating those cookies. It was almost night and my brother still hadn't gotten out of bed. I felt bad but I really wanted to stay where I was and continue eating cookies. After a while I went up stairs to see him, he was really sad. I went back downstairs and gave him the last cookie, even though I wanted it. And that made him really happy.

Last summer I told my mom about a swimming hole next to the snow machine bridge that I went swimming at the day before. I told her that we jumped off the dam next to it. It was awesome. She told us not to go back because it had a history for people getting hurt. I ignored her and my brother wanted to go. He was never told what mom said. So.... we went there the next day with some friends. We had jumped off for a total of probably close to a 100 times. Cameron had the worst luck ever. We pressured him into jumping and on his first time jumping he landed on a rock. from 20ft in the air. So we thought he broke his leg and my mom found out. After she got home I was grounded for forever.

This year my mom had to go to walmart first and we were in the candle section surrounded by people. And I loved to smell the candles, so i picked one up and tried smelling it. One lady came walking through amd bumped me and i dropped the candle. I was really embarrassed and knew instantly i was gonna get in trouble. Despite how many times my mother told me not to touch stuff, I still did. My mother turned and started to discipline me for touching stuff but helped me get someone to clean it up. I got another lecture when i got in the truck.
