Sixteen-year-old Juno MacGuff learns she is pregnant by her friend Paulie Bleeker. Although she considers abortion, she decides to have the baby and give it up for adoption. With the help of her friend Leah, she finds a couple, Mark and Vanessa Loring, to adopt the baby. As time goes on, Juno befriends Mark, who is married to Vanessa. Juno struggles with her feelings for Bleeker and her relationship with Mark becomes closer. However, Juno discovers that Mark plans to leave Vanessa, which she does not accept. Later, Juno acknowledges her feelings for Bleeker and at the hospital, they both decide to give the baby up for adoption to Vanessa.
