8.45 am- Arrived Tourism Malaysia for the scheduled report duty at 9.00 am.

9.00 am- Welcomed by Mr Abdul Zaili, the Human Resources officer who are in charge of our recruitment, was asked to wait for a while for briefing session.

9.45 am- Was brought to meeting room for briefing session. Briefing started with the core introduction of Tourism Malaysia by Mr Faizal, the Assistant Director for Human Resource Division. Mainly talk about organizational and how Tourism Malaysia operates also what they have contribute to Malaysia.

11.15 am- Another briefing session about the rules and conditions for industrial trainee should follow.

12.30 pm- Briefing session ends. Transferred to the division that they have been assigned to me, which is International Promotion Division for America, Europe and Oceania (AERO)

1.00 pm- Lunch break

2.00 pm- Received working schedule and also a
copy of the blueprint that includes the rules and regulations about what industrial trainee should do and follow. Was asked to read about it.

4.30 pm- Meeting with the Assistant Director, for introduction. Was asked to introduce myself and also tell them about what I have been learning during my study period.

5.00 pm- Off from work

Day 2- 20th February 2018

7.45 am- Arrived at the office.

9.45 am- Went to Human Resources Division for thumb print application. Thumb print application is used to record staff attendance. Madam Harjit has helped for the application process. The process was quiet easy than I expected, just display our thumb at the machine and it is done. All we need to wait was for ID verification.

10.20 am- Assigned by Encik Badrul Amin to helped him make photocopies of some paper work. This paperwork is related with some media visit from Clevedis to Malaysia for public relation program. After that, I was asked to sort out the payment receipt by Asia Experience Travel Sdn Bhd as the travel agent that have been appointed by Tourism Malaysia to lead the trip. Apart from that, checking minute meeting and also itinerary for the trip.

11.50 am- Received stationary and equipment needs for my own use during work.

1-2 pm- Lunch break

2.40 pm- I was brought by Encik Azlan to be introduce to every staff in the division including the Director of International Promotion Division ( AERO), Datuk Razif. During the session with Datuk Razif, he gave me some word of encouragement and also advice that I need throughout the internship period.

3.40 pm- Helped Encik Ihsan to complete to sorting out the list of staff name that will be in charge at some unit for the upcoming event which is Anugerah Pelancongan Malaysia (APM).

4.00 pm- Assigned by Encik Nasrul to make a trip to Financial Division to get some signature for some related documents about finance.

5.00 pm- Off from work!

9.15 am- Helped Mr Nasrul on payment report of spending by some promotional event that have been held in Paris. Then, the payment invoice need to be submitted to Finance Division to be approved by Cik Farah.
10.00 am- Encik Azrul has assigned me to help him with handling registration counter for ITB briefing session. ITB known as International Tourism Bourse is the world’s leading travel trade show. This year, it will be held on early March at Berlin. There are total of 35 organizations including tour operators, hotels and resorts, also public organization to represent Malaysia for this trade show. This trade show is for promoting Malaysia to the world and international market.

12.00 pm- I was given by Puan Ida the market brief of some country like Brazil, Germany, Australia, Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is basically includes every market information that we need to know in that particular country. This material was given to me for my own knowledge to get know the market situation at the country.

1.00-2.00 pm- Lunch break

2.40 pm- Received PC for my table. Now my table is complete and I am ready to complete my work :)

4.02 pm- Received minute meeting sheets for tomorrow’s meeting.

7.26 am- Arrived at the office.

8.45 am- Was given task by Puan Hasnida to make a list of attendees that has confirmed to attend APM 2018 on this 28th February. APM or known as Anugerah Pelancongan Malaysia is an awards ceremony that recognises and honours local and international tourism industry players for outstanding and innovative products and services. It also acts as an incentive for participants to strive for the highest level of professionalism and quality in both products and services. The list of attendees including industry player that participate and also nominated in the category.

10.00 am- Division meeting with the whole unit in this division. Discuss about the update and also progress about on going project. In the meeting also, Datuk Razip, the Director of the division also has asked me to introduce myself to everyone for the official greetings.

2.30 pm- Meeting ends

3.00 pm- Continueing to list down the name of attendees for APM. AERO division has been appointed to handle the protocol unit so the preparation need more attention and more detail.

9.00 am- Site visit to Putrajaya International Convention Center for Anugerah Pelancongan Malaysia briefing. Since AERO Division has been assigned as the head for protocol unit in this event, every member in this division are required to participate added with other member from other division and need to get know every single corner that will be involve in this event. The site visit was basically to get everyone familiar with the location and get the idea of the event’s program flow.

11.30 am- The site visit is over. Back to the office.

12.15 pm- 2.45 pm- Lunch break

3.00 pm- Reading material for market brief. This time is from Czech Republic, Italy and Russia.

4.15 pm- Helping Mr. Azlan to make listing for event that will involve by Tourism Malaysia office at outside country. This is for reference of Mr. Johanif.

4.30 pm- Assigned by Mr. Nasrul to get approval of spending in finance division, by Mr. Hairi and Mrs. Aliza

4.40 pm- Updating the list of confirmed attendees for Anugerah Pelancongan Malaysia. The list will always keep changing because the guest just submitted their RSVP to the person in charge of the guest attendance list.

8.00 am- Received email from Pn. Hasnida about the latest list of APM attendees who has confirmed their RSVP. Was asked to update the list with adding the new name on the confirmed list and print out for reference.

11.00 am- Was assigned by Cik Aida to prepare a database report of AERO’s rent contract. It is basically to record the total of spending that need to be used for every AERO office outside Malaysia.

8.10 am- Continuing database work. This database is for administration unit records to track the date of the contract is going to end

11.15 am- Assigned by Mr Nasrul to make photocopy of payment receipt that need to be submitted to finance division. Then, head to financial division to get confirmation of receiving payment receipt.

2.10 pm- Assigned by Pn Hasnida to prepare tagging label for APM’s seating arrangement. Basically I need to list down all the VVIPs,VIPs, and Award Nominees that will attend at that night. After listing down in labeling format, it needs to be printed in sticker paper so it is easier to be pasted at the attendees seat.

8.25 am- Assigned by Pn. Hasnida to add the label tagging for APM’s attendees. Printed out and send it back to her.

10.00 am- Head to PICC for full rehearsal and complete the tagging list. I have team up with Puan Roni to complete the tagging of finalists for every award according the category and number of sequence.

1.00-2.00 pm- Lunch Break

2.15 pm- continuing the tagging list. It takes quite long time because it need to follow the list and also the sequence that have been listed.

4.30 pm- Adding the tagging list because some attendees made last minute RSVP confirmation.

5.30 pm- Helping Puan Hasnida to make changes of some seat because of protocol rules.

6.20 pm- Assigned to be an usherette on the entrance of the hall. It is our job to welcoming every guest that arrived and always keep smiling.

8.30 pm- The award show started.

11.30 pm- The award show ended. Once again as usherette, inviting them to Post Party room.

1.30 am- Wrap up, the show has ended and it is time for sleep! >,<

12.15pm- Updating database work. There’s some part need to be change to make the data easier to be refer to.

1.30pm- Helping Pn Hasnida and Mr Yus to sort out the sponsored outfit that have been used by the ushers for APM last Wednesday. The outfit was then send back to the owner.

2.30pm- Helping Pn. Saliha to pack the souvenir to bring to Berlin for ITB 2018. There are total of 6 boxes that include variety of souvenir to be given during the event.

4.15pm- Making list of contents in every boxes so it is easier to refer at. The list includes the type of souvenir and also the total of every souvenir. The list was then printed out to bring it for reference.

5.05pm- Off from work.

Day 10- 2nd March 2018

9.15 am- Assigned by Mr Azrul to do labeling for handbooks that will bring by the ITB team to Berlin. It includes itinerary, market brief, booth layout, statistics, delegation list, contacts and weather forecast of Malaysia. Basically this handbooks includes information that people need to know about Malaysia and also Tourism Malaysia. The label was then need to be cut into the suitable size to be pasted on every section of divider. The process somehow took some times because it need to be fitted in small and suitable pieces.

12.15 pm- 2.30pm- Lunch break

2.45pm- continuing labeling work, and also at the same time help the ITB team to prepare the completed handbooks. There are total of 11 thick handbooks to be brought and some small handbook for extra copy.

4.45pm- Finished the work and submit it to Mr Azrul.

Started my day with continue updating talking point. This process takes lot of time because there are so many resources that we need to refer at. Today’s update includes updating major events in Malaysia 2018, health tourism, and also recognition from many awards that Malaysia and Malaysia’s Industry Player has received. By preparing this talking point, we could see the difference between years about what has Malaysia achieved and has it reach its target or not. Basically my task for this week is to do some research to get the data and prepare the talking points.

8.20am- Started my day with meeting my supervisor, Ms. Siti Zubaidah to get more information for the talking point. Received some advice from her and added with some material like report book for me to refer at. The never ending work like searching for information, visiting websites, and also getting annual report has helped me to get know more about tourism industry. It’s a very cool industry indeed.

Today’s talking point focuses more on health tourism and also tourism industry generally. Malaysia’s has been named as one of the best country with the best healthcare services which makes medical tourism has been on demand these past few years. The report includes what’s the speciality that Malaysia could offer, what is the factor that attracted people to come visit for medical purposes. Some of the material that I got from Ms. Siti could be used to check on the update number of tourist arrival in Malaysia and how many tourists industry has generated towards the country economic growth.

8.15am- Started my day with updating the market brief for United Kingdom. This includes the current recorded information like population as at 2017, the economic report, and also tourist arrivals. The number keep changing and it need to be updated in order to get accurate information. The source for this information was from the world fact book.

10.15am- Updating the talking point. Today it is more focused on ecotourism, homestay and a bit of education tourism. There are still more research need to be made because the information that I got through numerous website is not enough. But still, some of them could fill the information that I wanted. The work continues throughout the whole day and it will need to be continue on the next day.

9.30 am- Meeting with the whole AERO team. Lead by Mr Johanif, the deputy director of AERO division. Basically discussed about latest issues, getting follow up information for program that currently going on or had passed. Also sharing session about current issue about tourism.

11.30 am- End of meeting session . Back on continuing my work.

12.15- 2.30pm- Lunch break

2.45 pm- Discussion session with Mrs. Fiza about how I could improve my talking points report. She advice that I should focus more on figure and asked me to add some new information about contents in talking point. To add more, Mr Ismi then handed me some new information of the figures that have been updated like the total number of tourist that have participated in Homestay program and also number of hotels that have been built in Malaysia in year 2015 until 2020.

8.05am- Starting to add the new input for talking points. Today’s task is to search information about ecotourism, adding new information about homestay statistics, updating the education tourism information such as how many international student came to study in Malaysia. I was also been asked to add new unit in talking point which is Visit Malaysia Year 2020 (VMY 2020) section. This campaign has been set up to encourage tourist to come to Malaysia for travel. It is also help the tourism industry in Malaysia to reach its target which is to receive 36 million tourist arrival with RM126 billion tourist receipt in year 2020. Some other important information also has been added such as the meaning behind the logo, the simple history about VMY campaign and also the roadmap of achieving the target.

Some of the content in the power point slides are the tourist habit, the most visited country by the UK residence,tourist market overview, the total of UK tourist arrival and also includes UK tourist spending abroad and the survey of which airline, tour operator and also hotel that they always pick if they went for holiday.

Today's topic is more about filling the information about the tourist profile, characteristics, comparison of tourist arrival among selected ASEAN countries(Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia) also Tourism Malaysia Strategies to promote Malaysia at UK.

2.20 pm- Receive new task from Mrs Trecey. She asked me to prepare a report on delegates survey during ITB 2018. The survey is to investigate the level of satisfaction of the delegates during their participation with Tourism Malaysia during ITB 2018. The report was based on the survey form that have been prepared by Tourism Malaysia team. This form was then passed to the delegates to be filled after the exhibition period has ended.

8.15 am- Continuing to key in the data that have been collected from the survey. Since the current PC that I used did not have application to record and calculate data like SPSS, I have to count the form manually. After that, I need to present the data with visual in pie chart form and also graph bar along with the total number of people answer the question. Other than that, I also need to read and conclude in order to compile every comments and suggestion from every delegates to be compressed as one report. It does surely took a bit more time than usual but to be honest I really do enjoy my work because I could see the point of view of others towards the host which is Tourism Malaysia.

The new task includes upating market brief for United Kingdom with the newest data that they have received, and also making PPT slides for Ireland market. The slides includes the same content as United Kingdom but it is more difficult to get the details because the source is more limited than United Kingdom.

1.00 pm- Received order from the Deputy Director to follow him for a presentation talk by Dato' Mohamed Razip at Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur. This presentation was organized by Malaysia Direkt- HFT luzern- Switzerland. Dato' Mohamed Razip the director of AERO Division was invited to give a talk to the entrepreneur became student about the idea of tourism industry in Malaysia. Other than that, the talk session is also focused on the target of Malaysia towards AERO countries. The session starts from 3.00 pm until 4.30 pm.

Prepare market intelligence handbook to be brought at 2019 Budget meeting. The market intelligence is the summary of all tourism report such as total of tourist arrivals, Malaysia fast facts, air transportation arrival, total of familiarization trip, and also master talking points.

The report includes, Minute approval, programme tentative, Malaysia participants, forms and receipts, flights tickets, reports, reports and others. MITT 2018 known as Moscow International Travel & Tourism Exhibition in Moscow is one of the largest trade shows for travel and tourism in Russia, an important meeting place for the industry and a very good opportunity to network with colleagues and customers. At the fair destinations will be introduced, a feeling for the Russian travel market can be gained and suppliers can compete for attention for their products.

-Helped prepare KITF handbook, includes market brief also list of participation. KITF or known as Kazakhstan International Exhibition. KITF is where international and local companies evaluate the needs of the market and key preferences of the customers, come to know their competitors , find new effective business instruments and envisage strategies for their further development.

5.00 pm- Division/farewell meeting of Dato' Razip as this is his last meeting with AERO Division. This is because he got promoted as Timbalan Ketua Pengarah on Strategic and Planning Division.

Received task from Mrs. Trecey to prepare report for ITB Berlin 2018. The report need to have extra copies for reference of other deputy.

Compiling again the market intelligence of AERO's division, but this time Ms. Haryanty asked me to add new feature in the booklet, which is Mega Fam and Tourist Arrival target.

Helped Mrs. Trecey to prepare minute meeting for ITB Berlin 2019. Since Malaysia is the country partner for ITB Berlin next year, the preparation to go there has started and should be ready to manage the preparation

8.30 am- Asked by Mr. Yusaini and Mrs. Sharifah Hafsya to help them with preparing items to bring to KITF, Almaty, Kazakhstan. This includes preparing booklet report that contains booth layout, sellers, programme, itinerary, statistics, market brief, weather, e-tickets, contacts and others including the labeling for every section. The booklet was then need to be made into other 5 copies to give to the representatives from Tourism Malaysia to be refer at.

10.00 am- Making notice for staff's attendance. Since the administration officer in this division went outstation, she asked me to represent her to make notice on the attendance. The attendance was then need to be email to everyone for their reference.

2.15 pm- Compiling and preparing activity report and management meeting response report for Mr. Johanif, Deputy Director of AERO Division to bring it during management meeting on tomorrow. The report need to be collected from every head of unit in AERO division. They will email the report and response or else I need to find them to get the report summary.

9.15 am- Meeting with the new supervisor in the new unit, I was informed that I will be participating in 117th ECTAA Semi-Annual Meeting that will be held in Kuala Lumpur on 7th-8th May 2018. I will be part of the secretariat that will help to prepare the event. ECTAA is a group of 32 national associations of travel agents and tour operators of 27 EU Member States, 1 EU accession country (Montenegro) as well as Switzerland and Norway. ECTAA represents some 70,000 travel agents and tour operators in Europe, which sell transport, accommodation, leisure and other tourism services as well as combined products of leisure and business travel.

9.15 am- Assigned by Mrs. Sharifah Hafsya to prepare details that will be discusse in the discussion at 10.00 am.

10.05 am- Discussions starts, basically this discussion related to briefing session about ECTAA Semi- Annual meeting. Mrs. Sharifah Hafsya briefed about the flow of the event and also discussed about every secretariat tasks such as preparing invitation letter for welcome dinner, preparing souvenir for delegates, confirming the location of welcome dinner and also confirming the guest list.

On 6th May, I head to Grand Millenium, Kuala Lumpur to help the team to prepare for ECTAA's semi annual meeting on tomorrow, 7th May. Helped to sort out souvenir to delivert delegates rooms and also attend meeting for welcome dinner because Tourism Malaysia will be hosting the welcome dinner for the delegates. The dinner will be held at Al-Halabi Restaurant, JW Marriott, KL.

Helepd Ms. Siti to prepare and sor tout media kit to give at media during their registration. The kit includes media release and a few souvenir. I spend my time mostly at secretariat room because it is easy for me to help any officer that need help with things related to documents or preparing unexpected name tags. The welcome dinner started at 7.30pm where we need to ushered the delegates from hotel to the restaurant. Because the location between hotel and the restaurant only walking distance, so the delegates need to walk to get there. When most of the delegates has gathered at the hotel lobby, we started to walk to the restaurant and let them enjoy and take a glimpse of Bukit Bintang in the night time. The dinner was filled with cultural performance and also other elements that related with Malaysia culture.

Every trainee in Tourism Malaysia are required to present in front of Human Resource officer under Internship training unit about what have their experience and did during the whole training program. It is more on sharing session with other trainees and other officers about the progress and also interesting information. I was the third presenter on that day and I am glad it went well. During the session also, Tourism Malaysia has given certicate for every trainee that have ended their internship training in Tourism Malaysia.
