         <description><![CDATA[<div>Fourteenth Amendment Ratified<br><br>The goal of the Fourteenth Amendment was to give rights to people of other races. African Americans and other people of other races were recognized as citizens if born in the United States. This amendment also protects  voting rights of  citizens.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Fifteenth Amendment Ratified<br><br>This amendment decided that there shall be no discrimination about who can vote. Race, sex, and religion cannot be discriminated against. While many opposed this amendment and found it controversial, it was a major stepping stone in the civil rights of African Americans.<br><br></div>]]></description>

In 1945, he opened the door to other African Americans in sports when he was offered a job playing for the Dodgers' Montreal Royals. No African American had played on a white team before Robinson, so this was a major event in African American history.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>August - Emmett Till<br><br>Emmett Till was an African American boy who was murdered in August of 1955 for allegedly making advances toward and flirting with a white woman. Emmett's murder caused public outrage over violence towards African Americans and caused many more people of all races, including the government, to push for more civil rights for African Americans. The murder of Emmett Till even inspired Rosa Parks in her bus protest later that year<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Little Rock 9<br><br>The Little Rock 9 was a group of nine African American students who were the first to enter a white school in Arkansas as the start of integration. They were prevented by students and the soldiers sent to stop the protests from getting into the school. Disapproval of the hate towards them added to the growing support for the civil rights movement.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

They were protesting discrimination in the workforce and requesting more job freedom for African Americans. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous "I Have A Dream" speech during this protest. The march is given some credit for the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
