There’s endless reasons people want to create a secondary income, paying off debt, saving for a holiday or the comfort of a more stable financial situation. There’s even more ways to do so. Previously, people have set up websites, created apps, wrote blogs, invested. People still do these things, some with great success, but there’s a new way to make some extra money on the side.

The sharing economy is growing at a rapid rate. By now you would have experienced it first hand, be it Uber, Deliveroo, even eBay falls loosely into this category. With such growth and no sign of slowing, it’s the perfect time to take on a side gig and create a secondary income. Here’s 7 ways to do just that.

Spacer

If you have free space, a room, a shed, or even an entire house for a period of time, you could be making money off it. Requiring very little effort, Spacer is a great way to create a second, and almost passive, income.

Spacer connects people with spare space to people who need extra space to store things. No matter how much space you have, you can put it to work. People look to store documents, clothes, cars furniture, even boats and caravans. If you have a good space in a central location, you can be earning good money on the side.

Zoom2U

Zoom2U is one of the many sharing jobs revolving around driving. Rather than a passenger, like with Uber, Zoom2U is a marketplace that connects drivers to customers that need to have a parcel delivered.

The ability to choose when and where you work makes Zoom2U a great way to create a secondary income.

Wrappli

If driving around with passengers or delivering parcels isn’t what you want to be doing, but you still drive a car, you can still earn a secondary income. Wrappli, yet another sharing job that uses driving, covers your car in an advertisement and will pay you as you drive around.

Australian drivers can earn up to $600 a month, a secondary income which is sure to help with those rising petrol prices.

ClassBento

Have you developed skills in a certain area? If you’re passionate about it, and want to teach newcomers to your field of expertise, you can, and get paid for it! Classbento connects people who want to learn certain things, to people who can teach it.

Whatever you specialise in, it’s likely people will want to learn about it! Once again you can choose when and where to have your lessons, allowing you to earn a secondary income when you’re available.

RubberDesk

If you’re working full time, and own an office with extra space and desks, you can rent it out to begin earning a secondary income. You can list your space in minutes, connecting you with workers looking for space to carry out their work. Not only is this a great way to earn some extra cash, but it could help you with networking and making valuable connections!

FoodByUs

Do you describe yourself as a foodie? Are you cooking meals for only 1 or 2 people and find you have lots of extra food? Why not sell your delicious meals to people in your local area? FoodByUs is a great alternative to working full time as a cook, meaning you can keep your full time job and follow your passion of cooking while earning a secondary income!

FoodByUs takes care of all the marketing, payments, sales and even deliveries, meaning all you need to do is cook.

Airtasker

If you have some spare time and don’t mind completing small simple tasks like handyman services, garden maintenance or IT set up, you can join up with Airtasker. Thousands of tasks are listed every month, meaning there’s always opportunity for you to take on a job and earn some extra cash.

Most of the tasks are simple and easy, but are posted by time-poor people. If you have some extra time, Airtasker allows you to turn it into cash!

Have a look at these apps and you might find out that gaining some extra cash is easier than you think! The sharing economy helps to find part-time gigs that won't take up too much of your time, but might make a real difference in your monthly income.

Do you know any other apps that help to find extra work? Share them in comments, I'm always looking to learn the new things about the sharing economy in the mobile world.
