Music is another form of symbolism. It gives more depth to not only the story but to the characters as well. Music in this novel creates another layer of uniqueness. It allows us to immerse ourselves in Gatsby's world. Music in The Great Gatsby accomplishes a number of things: it establishes settings of the book; it creates atmosphere; it calls attention to specific elements; it reinforces or foreshadows narrative developments; it gives meaning to a character's actions or translates their thoughts; and it creates powerful emotion.

"The rich get richer" could imply that Gatsby is getting richer in emotions now that he has been reunited with Daisy. "The poor get children" could imply that Daisy is poor emotionally in her marriage with Tom, in which Daisy has a daughter with Tom. This song is very mocking towards Daisy because as the lyrics states "not much money/oh but honey/ ain't we got fun" is a very ironic song for Daisy and Gatsby to reunite with, given the fact that Daisy rejected Gatsby due to his poverty.

F. Scott Fitzgerald references "Three O’Clock in the Morning" in chapter 6 of his book The Great Gatsby. The song is played at a party, and Fitzgerald uses it to reflect the thoughts of a character Daisy in the novel. He uses it to illustrate her deepest feelings towards Gatsby. She feels at peace with him, like loving him is the easiest thing to do. She wishes that it could stay like that forever. But reality sinks in, her husband tom, her child, and her responsibilities. She realizes that, that's all her and Gatsby will ever be. A dream. Tonight she chooses to forget about that and just embracing having this time with Gatsby. Although when she finally says good night, there's a sadness in the air.

We live in a society where nothing is free and welfare is hard to come by, furthered by the problem where the lower class do not have mobility, possibilities, etc. People are forced into wicked roles, where they make a living any way that’s possible and looked down on by society as deviants despite being forced into this role to support themselves and their families. This most likely related to Ain't We Got Fun, other then the similar names they also have similar meanings. They both talk about seemingly never-ending bills and the difference with the rich and the poor.

This song is basically describing how things will change throughout life, he will grow old and his memory will grow weak and he knows he'll grow weak physically as well, but the one thing that he's sure of is the fact that he will love her just the way he did back when he was young and he knows she will love him just the same. The feeling of loving someone deeply and knowing that they feel and will feel the exact same way towards you. This relates mostly to Three o'clock in the Morning. Both are about being so deeply in love with someone that you wish it would last forever. They both have to do with dancing, as well as wanting to stay in the moment for as long as they possibly can.
