somebody's watching me-rockwell

The song somebody 's watching me by Rockwell is a good representation of Winston in part one because he is always under constant surveillance by the party and by big brother. So the songs' main verse is "I always feel like somebody's watching me "this refers to Winston always feel like somebody's watching him every time he writes in his journal. Another verse in the song is "Who's watching me?" in part one Winston always questions to himself if anybody was watching him because they noticed him going against big brother. In the song many people are suspects for "watching" such as neighbors and mailmen, this correlates to Winston constant paranoia of not being able to tell if someone is from the party and if so they will turn him in to get vaporized. In the book, it stated that parents are fearful o there own children because they know that they think like them. So if parents are fearful of there own children then Winston knows that anybody can be part of the party. I chose this song because it refers to the paranoia that Winston felt of being caught, Winston would probably listen to this song when he's alone and when his fear takes over.

The song everything I do by Bryan Adams represents the feelings Winston was going through with Julia in part 2 of 1984. In the song, it says "don't tell me its not worth trying for"this correlates to Winston and Julia pursuing their love and taking a chase for it." You can't tell me it's not worth dying for" refer to when Winston told Julia that they shouldn't be together but Julia convinces him that they should stay together and they agree that they would rather die than to give up on there love. the verse "there's nothing that I want more" represents how much Winston wanted to feel love or a connection with somebody else because in Oceania there's no love, people only get married just to make babies nothing more. I choose this song because it talks about love and how they would do anything to protect that even if that means death. So this exactly how Winston felt when he felt the connection with Julia. I feel like Winston would listen to this song when he with Julia or after he leaves her.

Snow by xxxtentacion represents the sadness and pain that Winston experienced during part 3 of 1984. "It's too much my hearts crushed I'm not alive" is a verse that refers to when Winston was getting tortured so much so that he felt as if he was getting crushed. Winston got tortured so much that he felt as if he was not alive. Another verse that refers to Winston is "I won't love won't trust" the reason why this refers to Winston is that he is starting to conform to society by giving up on loving and trusting anybody beside big brother. The verse 'I've seen the pain, I've run away so many times" relates to Winston because he has suffered a lot of pain by O'Brien's hands, so he has"seen" the pain. Winston runs away from that pain by conforming and then eventually by betraying Julia." I won't allow myself happiness cause it's all lies" this refers to when Winston giving in to O'briean's and finally follows big brother Winston would listen to this song after he finally conforms to the rules of Oceania.
