When entering the course, I have no idea about what TET-SAT is or how it works. After taking it and going through all the materials given and doing lots of discussion, I realised how useful it can be. Not only did I learn my level of digital competence, but I got aqcuainted with necessary steps that I shoud take in order to improve my result. The links provided in the feedback after doing the test, are of great use, speaking of myself. I learnt lots of things such as CC and cyberbullying, that they will help me in my work. Self-assessment is necessary and should be done on time.

Even if teachers are able to recognize their limitations in TET, self-assessment would allow for a better critical analysis and help them to have a more real view of the situation. But it is necessary that a self-assessment test be homogeneous on a national scale and for all school grades. This is why the role of school policies is important through the drafting of a unitary training management project, based on the development of ICT, which supports schools and teachers with appropriate materials, tools and resources. The question is about TET-SAT, not self-assessment per se. Did my opinion about the value of TET-SET changed? Yes, it did change. I had high expectations about a tool that I did not know, but after using it, and study it, I think it is not a valuable one. TET-SAT was built with a certain kind of teaching in mind, one that use ICT in every aspect of teaching, something that I would call technology-BASED teaching. No, my opinion didn't change really much as I am really convinced of the value of self-assessment for all professions and jobs, even for the student profession. Self-assessment allows teachers to avoid being self-referential and help them to recognize their own strengths and weaknesses. They become more familiar with their competences but also with their misconceptions. After self-assessment teachers will be able to set the professional goals that they can attain in order to improve teaching/learning. Moreover they need to show their students that it is important for everybody to self-assess by doing their own self-evaluations. If teachers encourage this pedagogical practice pupils will become more active participants in their education process.

My opinion has changed slightly, since I realized from the first time I followed the course on MENTEP TET-SAT I realized how innovative and essential this tool could be. At the end I realized its full potential, the possibility to use and share a tool for self-assessment is unique and really useful for a professional growth. Teachers are usually assessed by headmasters and it may happen the process is biased by personal considerations. Being able to see check where we are on our own is fantastic.
