Here, you will find a collection of tools that I have collected in the field and have identified as useful as a future AYA ILA teacher. You will see a blend of mediums, from 3D printing to fully online resources. By having a variety, students are being exposed to numerous tech tools that they can use to improve their learning quality.

Leader: 3D Printing Project

Though it can be difficult to find a way to incorporate something like 3D printing into a Language Arts classroom, I created a raven for my poetry lesson that revolves around Edgar Allen Poe. By printing this out, I am creating a symbol to remember important details from the story, as well as being a leader in teaching my students how to 3D print. Students could also create a symbol for a shirt story or poem that they want to remember important details from. Spending time on the 3D printed object also helps with their memory on the topic: the longer they spend on an assignment, the more the lesson will be cemented into their memory.

Learner: Video Interaction Tools

For my Learner standard, I chose to present my video editing skills with the Video Interaction Tools clip. This was a great learning opportunity, as I got to test out the different effects in Clip Champ, an editing software that I already had on my computer. The process of making a video was also fun, as I got to practice handling the equipment and setting up secondary components such as the tripod and lighting. In this clip, we practiced using title slides, transitions, as well as using a camera angle we had yet to use.

Designer: Video Project Assignment

For this ISTE standard, I created a video on the responsibilities of a pre-service educator in the BGSU Education program. This video demonstrates me delegating instruction to my students, as well as taking them through the guided reading of Romeo and Juliet. By completing this assignment, I have learned the mechanics of basic video editing that I can pass onto my students.

After my Designer project, I completed the Video Assignment reflection to review my progress after the video. While I know there are some things that I know I could have done better, I think my project was an accurate depiction of my day as a CMT at Springfield. In addition, I also got to sharpen my video editing skills, which is something that I hope to use in my career as a teacher (I would like to someday teach a film/video class for students). Overall, I was quite proud of my work on this assignment.

Facilitator: Google Classroom Level 1

For my Google Classroom Level 1 exam, we had to practice using the Google Classroom portal as well as other G Suite tools. Although I did not pass my test on the first try, I do believe that it is a testament to the fact that even we as teachers are not always right on the first try, and it is okay to keep learning and seeking new information. Though I may have not passed the exam, I know that I have gained enough knowledge to help further me at the start of my career, and I can take it again in the future when I feel more prepared.
