America is a powerful country, but we don’t control much of the World. We have gotten in Wars and bought soil from other countries. Here are the most important steps that America took to become a world power.

First, Alaska and Hawaii, expanded America by having economic growth in money, and having our own new territories which became the last two of the 50 states. second, Japan and China, while we didn’t own China or Japan, we were good trade partners with them and they helped us get new supplies and goods for America. Lastly, the MidWay Islands and Samoa, these were stops where we could fill up vessels for military and trading purposes. These are the the best examples of steps that lead America to be a world power.

The are the three main reason that started the Spanish-American War. Yellow Journalism led America to believe that Spain had sunken one of our battle ships, the USS Maine, when it had been reported missing. America felt empathy for Cuba when Spain tried to take them over. America was almost controled by ENgland and we knew how cuba felt with being controled. Last, America just went back to its roots of imperialism. The US just would have another territory over sea, Spain, to help grow America’s world power.
