Both in English and Spanish, there are a number of words that help us organize the main ideas of a story, in this case, these would be sequence connectors. Something that supports this term would be auxiliary verbs, which help us express what we want in different tenses. Therefore, the following will explain more deeply about these terms and how to use them.

Auxiliary or modal verbs are the commonly used elements of a sentence. They include “may,” “could,” “can,” “could,” “must,” “shall,” “should,” “will,” “would,” and “should.”

These verbs are used before the main verb in a sentence to express ideas such as permission, ability, need, possibility, and obligation. Verbs that share only some of the features of the main modals are sometimes known as semimodals.

Using connectors in English is crucial for creating cohesive and coherent sentences, paragraphs, and texts.

Connectors, such as "and," "also," and "in addition," help link ideas and provide a flow to the writing. They can add information, contrast ideas, provide examples, sequence events, and show cause and effect.

For adding information, connectors like "and," "also," and "in addition" are used to include more details in the sentence. Contrasting ideas can be shown using connectors like "but," "however," and "on the other hand." Providing examples is made easier with connectors like "for example," "such as," and "including." When sequencing events, connectors like "first, second, third," "next," and "finally" help organize the order of events. And for showing cause and effect, connectors like "because," "therefore," and "as a result" explain the reasons behind certain actions and their consequences.

There are 4 properties or characteristics in modal verbs:

As we showed previously, they are never conjugated.

They change or transform the verbs, that is, always after using a modal verb, the verb must be in its infinitive mode (without the “to”), for example: You can read better.

They express need, probability, ability, capacity, suggestions or advice; permission, request; obligation, certainty or provision.

When modal verbs in English are in negative or interrogative form, they do not need an auxiliary, since the verb is used for that purpose; for example: I can't dance Can you sing? (You can sing?)

Sequence connectors and modal auxiliary verbs are two useful resources in the formulation of ideas and sentences in English; the sequence helps us understand events in the order in which they occur. Modal auxiliary verbs give information about possibilities or assumptions, although they may seem complicated, these resources are very useful for expressing ideas and sentences in English in a clear and concise way. In summary, sequence connectors and modal auxiliary verbs are an integral part of the English language, and learning to use them is a valuable skill for any English learner.
