         <description><![CDATA[<div>• Heck Tate is testifying in the courtroom<br>• Heck says Bob Ewell came to his office excitedly, telling him to hurry to his house, because his daughter had been raped by a black man<br>• He came to find Mayella on the floor in the front room beat up, he asked who did it and they said Tom Robinson<br>• Mayella told Heck that Tom beat her and took advantage of her<br>• Atticus asks Heck if a doctor was called, and he says no<br>• Heck says Mayella had bruises on her arms, the right side of her face, and her neck<br>• Heck is called down from the stand, and Bob Ewell replaces him<br>• Description of Ewell home: The Ewells live behind the town's garbage dump in an old cabin. The cabin and the yard itself are made of scraps and odds and ends.<br>• Scout says her and Jem are not affected by watching Atticus in the courtroom<br>• Bob Ewell was asked his point of view; he was leaving the woods and heard Mayella's screams inside the house. He then ran to look in the window and saw Tom Robinson "ruttin' on" Mayella.<br>• Reverend then tries to get the children to leave because of Bob's harsh language, but Jem convinces him to let them stay.<br>• Judge Taylor tells Mr. Ewell to "keep his testimony within the confines of Christian English usage," after using the n-word.<br>• Bob then continues to say that as soon as he saw Tom he ran around to the front,  but he had already ran far out the door.<br>• Atticus asks why a doctor wasn't called, and Bob says he didn't think about it, and it would've been too expensive.<br>• Atticus then asks Bob to confirm Heck's observations of Mayella's injuries, and he quickly agrees.<br>• Atticus has Bob write his name on an envelope, which reveals he is left handed </div>]]></description>

But he also called Mayella his, as if she's property that someone could take from him. This furthers Atticus's idea that Bob Ewell does not respect his daughter, and possibly is the one who beat Mayella</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>"All the little man on the witness stand had that made him any better than his nearest neighbors was, that if he scrubbed with lye soap in very hot water, his skin was white."<br>                 (Lee 229)<br><br>This quote is important because Bob Ewell is being compared to the black community, whom he has a strong dislike for. He lives right down the road from them, and is everything they are, including being dirty and not living in a pleasant area, besides the same skin color. This quote is especially important because this is representing the theme of racial prejudice, which is shown throughout the story. Bob believes he is superior to the blacks, even though the only thing separating himself from them is his skin.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Chapter 17 is an important chapter to the story. It gives two point of views for what happened between Tom Robinson and Mayella. One of the point of views was Bob Ewell's, which includes plenty of insults to Tom. Not only does this reveal information about Bob, but so does when he has to write his name on the envelope, which reveals he is left handed and could have been the one to hurt Mayella and give her bruises. </div>]]></description>
