They could make a rocket ship, a hat, a puppet show, a collage and a few others in which each connected to a story from our unit. The information books are very popular and they often return to checkout their favorite books repeatedly. A child who chooses their own book is more likely to read it.

1. Read a short story, write a few sentences about the characters, setting and problem from that story.
2. Become an illustrator, draw a “comic”, ensure that there are characters and a setting and that there is a problem within the story.
3. Poetry: write a poem using rhyming words, keeping in mind that those words may have a beat when it’s read out loud.

These were some of the options in choice learning, which usually happens on the 1st and 3rd Friday each month. It brings together all of the library lessons that had been covered over the two weeks. I told them as long as they had them all completed by the following Monday I didn't care when they did them or in what order. Those who wanted to socailize during breakfast could, and those who didn't want homework had time to get all of their work done in class. 
 I also had a prize wall with things I found at Goodwill I thought they would like.
