Acquisition of Hikmah ( Positive Value )

In the first week of Usrah in Semester 2, I learned about hikmah (wisdom) is a valuable gift from Allah that allows a person to understand things deeply, make good decisions, and act in the best way.A Muslim student who seeks hikmah will study with sincerity, make good choices, and balance both academic and spiritual life.

1. Seeking Knowledge with Wisdom

As students, gaining knowledge is our daily activity. However, learning should not only be for passing exams but for understanding and practicing what we learn. A wise student seeks knowledge with the right intention and applies it in life.

Sharing Beneficial Knowledge

Knowledge becomes more valuable when shared. A student with hikmah does not keep knowledge to themselves but helps classmates and teaches others.

Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. (Surah An-Nahl 16:125)

The Prophet said:

The best of you are those who learn the Qurân and teach it to others.(Sahih al-Bukhari, 5027)

3. Practicing Sincerity (Ikhlas) in Learning

A wise student learns for the sake of Allah, not for praise, status, or rewards.

This means that if we study with a sincere heart, Allah will bless our efforts. Even if we face difficulties, sincerity helps us stay motivated and patient.

The acquisition of hikmah is essential for every Muslim student. It helps us seek knowledge with sincerity, apply it wisely, make good decisions, and spread benefits to others. True wisdom comes from following the Qur’an and Sunnah while striving for excellence in studies and character. By asking Allah for hikmah, we can become better students and better Muslims, gaining success in both this life and the Hereafter.

This is the third week of our Usrah, and we are gathering online. Salah is a direct connection with Allah, and performing it with khushu (humility and focus) enhances its spiritual benefits. Proper preparation helps achieve this state.

1. Intention (Niyyah)

Every act of worship begins with intention. The Prophet SAW said

Indeed, actions are judged by their intentions.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, 1)

2. Purification and Cleanliness

Before salah, one must perform wudu, face the qiblah, and ensure the prayer area is clean. When a Bedouin urinated in the mosque, the Prophet ï·º told the companions:

D not harm him. Just pour water over it and clean the place. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, 220)

3. Khushu Begins Before Salah

Khushu starts with mental and physical preparation:

• Performing wudu calmly.

• Praying in a quiet and clean place.

• Using a siwak before salah, as the Prophet SAW advised.

4. Avoiding Distractions

The Prophet said:

Do not pray when food is ready or when you need to use the restroom.(Sahih Muslim, 560)

5. The Effect of Proper Preparation

Salah with khushu helps prevent sins and strengthens faith. As Allah says:

Indeed, prayer prevents immorality and wrongdoing. (Surah Al-Ankabut: 45)

In conclusion,Preparing for salah properly leads to greater khushu’. Through purification, focus, and sincerity, salah becomes more meaningful and strengthens one’s connection with Allah.

The Reasons and Sources of Wisdom from Ibadah

Ibadah is a vital part of a Muslim’s life, not only for worshiping Allah but also for personal growth and discipline. It is divided into two types: general and specific. General ibadah includes good deeds done for Allah’s sake, while specific ibadah refers to acts like salah, fasting, zakat, and hajj. This shows that ibadah is not limited to prayer but includes all righteous actions.

Allah does not need our worship to maintain His power. Instead, ibadah benefits us by keeping us away from wrongdoing. Salah, for example, prevents immorality, as stated in the Quran:

Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing (Surah Al-Ankabut: 45)

Ibadah also improves health. Wudu protects hygiene, fasting teaches self-control, and zakat purifies the soul while balancing the economy. Hajj, on the other hand, strengthens the unity of Muslims and requires physical endurance.

Through ibadah, a Muslim develops taqwa and gains Allah’s guidance. As the Quran says:

And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out.” (Surah At-Talaq: 2)

Thus, ibadah is a source of wisdom that shapes character, strengthens faith, and unites the ummah. By practicing it sincerely, Muslims attain both worldly and eternal success.

Today, in our usrah, we learned about [Virtues found in salah with Khusyu’]

When we start thinking about things other than the recitations in our prayer or supplications, we lose our khusyuk (devotion).

But once we taste the sweetness of khusyuk, we will long for this blessing. True devotion begins with a perfect wudu, as purity of the body helps purify the heart.

Allah says in the Quran:

“Certainly will the believers have succeeded. They who are humbly submissive in their prayer.”(Surah Al-Mu’minun, 23:1-2)

Taah (Loyalty and Obedience to Allah)

We truly understand loyalty to Allah when we fear making mistakes that displease Him. True obedience comes from a heart that is conscious of Him at all times.

Allah says:

“you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and do not invalidate your deeds”. (Surah Muhammad, 47:33)

Jihad (Struggling in the Path of Allah)

Striving in the way of Allah means surrounding ourselves with friends who encourage us towards goodness—reminding us to pray, guiding us towards righteousness.

Tawadhu (Humility)

Modesty and humility are key to inviting others towards goodness. Before advising others, we must first improve ourselves.

In prayer, we remind ourselves of who we truly are just humble servants standing before the Almighty, leaving behind everything else in submission.
