Six Boys from Tonga -- Rutger Bregman This book told us the incredible true story of six Tongan boys who, after a shipwreck in 1965, were stranded on a deserted island for over a year. They survived thanks to their ingenuity, friendship, and teamwork until they were rescued. I loved how it shows resilience and the power of cooperation. Unlike other survival stories, this one shows the importance of mutual support in difficult times. Yes! It's an inspiring story that shows that friendship and hope can overcome any challenge.

The Thirty-Nine Steps by John Buchan is a spy thriller starring Richard Hannay, who gets caught in an international conspiracy after witnessing a murder. While running from a network of enemy agents, Hannay must uncover a plot connected to a military mystery, all while facing dangers and being chased. It is an exciting spy story that keeps you interested. The plot is a bit old-fashioned, but it's still fun, and Richard Hannay is a good main character. If you like action and adventure, it's worth reading.I highly recommend it if you're a fan of fast-paced adventure and classic spy stories.

American Crime Stories by John Escott is a book from the Penguin Readers series, designed for English learners. It presents a collection of short stories based on real-life criminal cases in the United States. The book explores different crimes, including theft and murder, and delves into the investigations and legal processes behind them. Through these stories, readers gain insight into the complexities of crime, justice, and human motivations, with themes such as greed, revenge, and power. It is both an educational tool for learning English and a reflection on darker aspects of human nature. Is an interesting book that combines real-life crimes with simple storytelling, making it great for learning English. It made me reflect on themes like greed and revenge, while keeping me entertained.

All About the Cinema is a book that talks about the beginnings of cinema in France with Chaplin, all the way to the latest special effects. It is a very technical and interesting book.

In my opinion, it is a great book. I really enjoy cinema, and the films it mentions are very interesting. You discover things about cinema that you didn’t know. Another thing I loved was its mention of Spanish directors, like Almodóvar, as he is one of my favorite directors, and I discovered many things about him that I didn’t imagine. The only thing I didn’t like is that it might be too technical.

On my part, I would recommend it if you like cinema, but if you’re not into it, it might bore you a little.

Wilde's witty humor, moral precepts, and a sense of beauty are all abundant in each narrative.

I like how Wilde blends profound intellectual ideas with humor. His stories are thought-provoking because they frequently deal with the conflict between appearance and reality. On the other hand, sad endings can occasionally occur.

I recommend this book to anyone who appreciates classic literature with a blend of sorrow and wit should read it.

The book is entitled Stories from Down Under and penned by Gordon King. As the name implies, it delves into various tales from the ‘underworld,’ including a touching story called A Man and His Dog, which portrays a man who has been treated poorly by life but is uplifted by his loyal dog, Tally.

Personally, I found the book a tad dull, as it does feel a bit dated. However, I did appreciate the way it vividly captures the atmosphere of each scene.

I’d recommend it for those keen to learn new words and broaden their vocabulary. I hope you’ll consider giving it a read!

The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo is a historical novel set in 15th-century Paris. It tells the tragic story of Quasimodo, a deformed but kind-hearted bell ringer of Notre Dame Cathedral, and his love for the beautiful gypsy Esmeralda. However, Esmeralda is desired by many men, including the cruel Archdeacon Frollo, who becomes obsessed with her. As Frollo’s jealousy leads to betrayal and violence, Quasimodo tries to protect Esmeralda, but fate is cruel. The novel explores themes of love, fate, injustice, and the struggle between beauty and ugliness. Ultimately, it is a powerful critique of society’s prejudices and hypocrisy.
