Global citizens
We don't need to teach children to become global citizens. We all are global citizens!
Little things matter: think globally, act locally ❤️.
To be honest I'm troubled with recycling here. It's very difficult for me to throw all the trash into the same bin. And it seems there's nothing I could do about it. At least for now. We need to fix things like this before it's too late!

As global citizens we should think globally and act locally.

This was my first time in rainforest and the amount of green and the size of the vegetation surprised me. I learned a lot about the nature in Guadeloupe as well as new French words. The cherry on the cake today was swimming in the refreshing stream.

For me is a global citizen a person who feels part of the global community. Somebody who takes care of himself, of other people and of the nature. People who think global knows about the problems we have in this world at the moment and they try to take responsibilty for their behaviour in this world, in their daily lifes. It is not necessairy to do hughes activitys, every little step is important. This we should teach our children and students.

Today I've learnt why Guadeloupe's rain forest lacks animals. For me that's a negative point of globalization, on the other hand, the richness and diversity of the plants is also an outcome of globalization.

In a lovely place in the middle of the forest we talked about how to become a global citizen. We've heard stories of people turning their life around by being open to the world and by being given a chance.

Talking to the others about their ways of sending students away and giving them the chance to broaden their horizons was quite interesting, as we stand at the beginning of our European projects.

As global citizens we have an added layer of responsibility.

Apart from being reminded of how privileged I am (The global village), I also learned how to use this "village idea" with students.
I find it very important to raise our students' awareness to the fact that in our rural corner of Germany we are as much global citizens as people living in London or New York. I believe that the imperative "Think globally, act locally" is very important here. My actions have an influence on the world, starting with the decision how I get to school in the morning, what my lunch consists of and how I spend my holidays.
I also learned a lot about Guadeloupe's rainforest, its biodiversity and the reasons for it.
And I learned a bit more French: J'aime la mer!

"Always be a guest, not just a tourist"

Seeing you standing there, looking out into the rainforest, I was reminded of how great the impact of nature can be on us and how easily we are overwhelmed by its beauty. Being only a guest on this planet for just a short time, everyone has to do his or her share to save the beauty of it for the generations to come. And hopefully a lot of people do that around the globe because there is only one planet and we are ALL responsible for it and even the smallest things you do can have a great Impact.

Globalization is not an option, it is a fact, a reality... something inevitable in our society
For today's reflection, I choose globalization, its current impact on modern societies and the importance of its integration in the curriculum. Globalization is not an option, it is a fact, a reality... something inevitable in our society. Its presence and importance in the future of humanity are irreversible. The inclusion of the subject in the school curriculum is the best way to prepare students for global citizenship.
The integration of globalization in the curriculum allows an approximation between cultures. Bringing cultures together means increasing respect for the diversity of values. Developing global citizenship means understanding the global market, the global economy, major world policies, geopolitics, social realities and their diverse relationships, the role and importance of global cultural heritage, the contribution of technology to the globalization of access to information and development. Integrating globalization into the curriculum allows us to reflect on injustices, inequalities and commits humanity to local development with a global perspective. This commitment makes it possible to make the world a sustainable place in a world of shared responsibilities.

We live in an unpredictable, rapidly and exponentially changing world, with increasingly complex challenges. The forest, visited today, represents a secular example of globalization, where the species that inhabit it establish ecological relationships to survive. This living example of symbiotic and synergistic relationships, underpins the concept of the global citizen, where identity and sense of belonging, justice and equity, rights and responsibilities, sustainable living and conflict management and peace, must be urgently addressed in a cross-sectional and longitudinal manner in all educational curricula in the world, assuming according to the ONU, agency specialized in education, science and culture, as a central factor in the development of future generations, including being a pillar of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDS) and the Education Agenda of 2030. It is up to us global teachers to help in this transformation...
