Medical professionals say parents and teachers see signs of visual impairment very early on, even as early as babies. Some signs to look out for are not focusing on objects, eyes going cross-eyed, and lack of direction. Eye doctors perform a series of tests on a child's vision to determine if they have a visual impairment or potential blindness. Some examples of tests they perform include visual acuity tests, visual field tests, and depth perception tests.
