Cruz is now based Mindanao, but she had taken up a Master's degree in Creative Writing and a Master's degree in Language and Literature from the esteemed De La Salle University-Manila, to which she graduated from with distinction. She then moved to Davao in her later years where she now works as a Professor at the University of the Philippines Mindanao, and teaches literature and creative writing. Outside of her job as a professor in UP Mindanao, she is also the President of the Davao Writers Club amongst other things. Most of all, she is a Palanca Award winner, and a notable queer representative for all lesbians, or simply women loving women, in a country with very few works on the lives of sapphics. Her works have made their own significant marks and contribution to Philippine art and culture as the representation of Filipino lesbians and their struggle, and also joys, as a woman loving woman in the Philippines. Through Cruz, many have gained the courage to confront the daily struggles of a woman loving woman, and that in itself is a huge leap for both Philippine art and culture.

Neri obtained their undergraduate degree (BA in Mass Communications-Journalism) from the University of the Philippines Baguio (UPB). They also finished their master’s degree (MA Filipino: Malikhaing Pagsulat) from the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD). They are currently studying for their Ph.D. (Ph.D. in Filipino: Malikhaing Pagsulat) at the same university. The artist is a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, an activist, a Marxist, and a Feminist. These influence the artist and the topics they choose to write about. Depending on the focus of their project, the artist usually focuses on one central theme among the ones stated above. Ikaklit Sa Aming Hardin teaches us the true essence of being a family: that it is not defined by having a mother and father but by growing up filled with love and acceptance from parents and the importance of incorporating social and political issues and problems into children’s stories.

Educating people about social and political issues and problems through literature is a powerful and creative way to introduce “sensitive” or taboo topics. Literature should not be confined to making art about societal norms. It is an avenue for artists to use their voices in enlightening people about the state of the country and fighting for change. Promoting the artworks of artists like Bernadette V. Neri is one step closer to breaking free from the conservative beliefs of the Philippines.

She took up Education and majored in English at Silliman University. Soon after, she took her Masters Degree in Creative Writing at the University of Iowa. After receiving a scholarship grant in 1958, she was then able to get a doctorate degree in the English language at the University of Denver.

The Silliman National Writers Workshop, which she founded and directed alongside her husband, Dr. Edilberto K. Tiempo, was said to have produced some of the Philippines' best writers. For her groundbreaking work, she is recognized by some as the Mother of Philippine Literature.

During his stay there, he became part of Ateneo’s official literary and artistic publication, Heights. His love for poetry and writing grew with him as time passed. Although he wasn’t significantly great before, Samar is now celebrated as one of the best writers of our time. Si Janus Sílang at ang Tiyanak ng Tábon, the first book in the Janus Silang series, tells the story of a young boy and his mysteries while fighting Filipino mythical creatures. It is truly a fantastic book that sheds light on parts of our culture that are somehow not usually discussed, especially in Literature. He went on to pursue jobs, and then ended up working for a print shop where he will ultimately pursue literature. However with his works, he was able to acquire an honorary Associate in Arts certificate from the University of Santo Thomas and a scholarship to Saint Albert's.

As a writer, his works were historic with his works being about the Spanish colonization.
