In my math classes in high school, we never had interesting minds on activities. Most often, we started the class by taking up the homework or beginning the theory portion of the lesson, which is fine. It can be difficult to come up with interesting and fun math tasks, so I am proud of my commitment to findings/creating these within my lesson planning.

My block starts a bit earlier due to end of year field trips. I'm proud of my initiative to get ahead of planning, as well as incorporating culturally relevant pedagogy and learning skills. Worksheets that are paired with videos are almost ready to go, so that the students have tactile engagement. I am excited about this unit for them, and from what I hear from my MT, they are excited for it too

I tend to have a visual/auditory minds on, or a kinesthetic one like a game. Then for my action, it's reading and writing focused because I'm in an English class. Then for the discussion and consolidation, we usually chat in small groups and then discuss more broadly as a class. Once in a while, I have a shorter minds on so that we can play a game at the end to assess learning.

Since I am in a Grade 8 class, it is hard to find tasks and activities that everyone will like, so I try to accommodate and include as much as I can for all my learners. This is usually provided for in my minds-on activities, to get them interested in what we will be learning. In my classroom, my MT has the students follow a PDF of the program with clear instructions on how to use the program and tools. I have made a few of these so far this semester, and the response has been terrific. The students have said they are easy to follow and have minimal questions when it comes to editing on the programs. I always do a quick demonstration at the beginning of class of what the tool will be that the students will use so that they can get an understanding of how it works before they attempt the tutorial on their own.
