They started a movement called the anti-slavery society that raised awareness for the equality of  African Americans. Some of the people are, William Loyd Garrison, Sarah Grimke, Fredrick Douglas, and most importantly Sojourner Truth. They all fought for the rights of African Americans. Sojourner Truth changed her name from Isabella Baumfree. Sojourner means a person who resides temporarily in a place which is slavery in the U.S. Ant truth means the quality or state of being true. so she changed her name to make a point that slavery is not the option, the option is manual labor that the person is being payed or the person that owns the land
