Through providing support and education the app will empower nurses and improve their confidence levels, which has been directly correlated to improving wound management, patient satisfaction and outcomes (Innes-Walker et al., 2019). Milner et al (2020) further asserts that mobile apps improve knowledge and confidence.

It also facilitates timely decision-making at the bedside through access to information in real-time (Giles-Smith et al., 2017; Mather et al., 2018). Another area of concern is that of workplace barriers, such as, the time required to train nurses in using the app efficiently. A lack of resources and time to incorporate training and education before use will inhibit practice and reduce nurse compliance thereby leading to failed implementation of the app (Curran et al., 2019; Zaidi et al., 2020). This will help promote healthcare and prevention and enable individualised care.

Another impediment is that of security. As apps wirelessly transmit and receive health data it can be exposed to various security and privacy violations.
