I lived in Sinop/Brazil for more then a decade and despite not really going out, every time I would go to any store I would talk to some stranger. Like the cashier, the old lady buying jeans, a kid joking around. Overall, Brazil is a very friendly country were you can speak to anyone and have small talks all the time. Most of my small talks to strangers happened in queue of the market groceries or something like that.

São Paulo it’s a large city with many kind of people. There is a lot of people ready to help and talk to strangers in the street. Specially if it’s close to sightseeing places, where has tourists. But there are people who are running to work and school and might not pay attention to someone else to start a conversation. Sometimes it’s not because it’s a problem, sometimes they just don’t have time.

But if you walk in the city on the weekends you can see the people helping the others, and laughing more than normal days.

In my opinion, Guayaquil is a city where people are generally friendly, but it really depends on the situation. In busy areas like the Malecon or shopping centers, people can seem a bit more focused on their own thing and less likely to start a conversation with strangers. But if you're in a neighborhood or a local market, people are usually open to talk and help. So, I wouldn’t say Guayaquil is unfriendly, but like in any big city, it’s all about the context.

It can be annoying if you are an immigrant or a tourist, because these people are able to make jokes to everyone in the first meeting and just chilians will understand and laugh, but that is how some people make friends. Santiago could be ugly, but its people who make this city a better place to live.

Minas Gerais is the kind of place that welcomes you with open arms, a freshly brewed coffee, and a warm pão de queijo. It’s home to people who love a good conversation and say “uai,” “trem,” and “sô” without even thinking.

Here, the mountains paint the horizon, waterfalls hide in the middle of the forest, and dirt roads take you to places no one talks about, but everyone should visit.

The cities breathe history, with golden churches and stone streets that have seen it all. And if you get hungry, don’t worry, there’s frango com quiabo, feijão tropeiro, doce de leite, and, of course, a cachaça that burns on the way down but warms the soul.

That’s Minas. A place that feels like home, smells like good food, and has a simple way of life that makes you want to stay.
