Honestly, this week was a dream!! The location was amazing! Our group had such cool ideas and worked so well together. We spent time with horses and in nature and we couldn’t have asked for anything more! Students worked well through the protocols and as teachers we felt like the pacing worked out perfectly!

This stage proved our first difficult situation. The saturate and group was a challenge without talking. The students looked at their groups and realized there were not "actual groups" created. They found that talking proved a lot more beneficial, although there were some disagreements. It was helpful that Libby and I helped to group and it allowed them to see the bigger picture and agree.

The students have done a wonderful job in the investigation stage. The interviews this morning went wonderfully! The staff was VERY impressed with the questions our students came up with. We had great discussions all day, but especially after our interviews. The students have put themselves in a great position to really dive into incubation tomorrow. We are so excited to see what they come up with for their solution!!

This section still proved to be an area of improvement for us :). We had check-ins planned for each morning but the staff was SO amazing about popping in and giving our kids a chance to meet more horses, feed the fish, etc.! We also had a film crew come in one morning and that was exciting for all of us! We did have two students have the opportunity to be interviewed by the OAISD which gave them a unique opportunity to reflect and check in with their progress!!

This is where the students felt most empowered. They wanted to get to work right away and wished they had an infinite amount of time. The collaboration and communication was great and they worked well together. Challenges came up with ideas and wanting their idea to be front and center, but some adult conversation helped to combine ideas.

Our team was given the chance to do a meet and greet/grooming session with two of the horses: Scout and Hamlet. Hamlet and Scout are now our 11th and 12th member of Team Renew!

To wrap up the week, we participated in Finish Line where the team (and two horses) communicated and walked across the area to cross the "finish line" at the same time. It was such a wonderfully symbolic way to show that we worked through and completed a week together!!

After our tour, students had an opportunity to walk around the property again. This time making a Bug List...through the eyes of a visitor and through the eyes of someone dealing with accessibility barriers.
