I want to be a teacher because I love to share information and see students learn and grow. I find it fascinating when they understand a concept that they did not grasp before and are able to apply it. I also want to be a teacher because I want to help students through a challenging point in their lives, to make school more bearable and give them a place they feel safe and accepted.

Growing up I was always called the "baby whisperer" for how well I took care of my younger cousins. I would always reply that I just liked caring and helping them. I realized that a way I could continue to care, help and educate younger kids can be through teaching.

I knew from a very young I love learning languages. I had a great time learning French throughout elementary and secondary school but noticed most French teachers all had the same aura around them and were known for being either super chill or too strict pushing people away from the language. I knew from grade 7 that I wanted to make a change and give children the opportunity to learn the the French language through a fun but education lens where I am able to prove that French is a fun and a beneficial language to learn in Canada.

I knew I wanted to be a teacher, specifically a math teacher, from a young age. I have always loved the subject and loved sharing my love for the subject with others. I believe that students need a positive role model in their classes who both understand and enjoy the topics they are teaching. I enjoy helping others to succeed and I am hoping that, through teaching math, I can help students to succeed in the subject but also enjoy it in some way.

When I was younger I loved watching shows where characters went to school. I would fixate on pretending to be a teacher when playing games with friends at recess. I used to make pretend tests for family and friends to take, and I'd mark them and add stickers too! I just always loved the idea of helping others and growing collective knowledge. -Erin

I want to be a teacher because teaching is something I've always enjoyed, and I know I will always love. Almost every job I've ever had since I was 14 has been some kind of teaching role, whether it be a camp councillor, coach, or tutor, and it is something that has always made me feel happy and fulfilled. When I started taking music classes my music teachers always had a big impact on me, and I knew that's what I wanted to do one day.

At first, I didn't want to be a teacher, but a marine biologist, as I have a great passion for our oceans. Even though adults in my life believed i had what it takes to be a teacher, I disagreed until I started working with kids in nature. I noticed that I did have a natural skill at working with kids and that I enjoyed it. I then found out that I am equally inspired and taught by them as they are by me. I realized that I can share my gift, and witness personal growth in front of my eyes

For me, the reason I want to become a teacher is because, growing up, I never had a teacher who looked similar to me. As a Black, Muslim woman, I never saw anyone like me teaching at my school. It was something I rarely saw in many schools actually. This is one of the main reasons I want to become a teacher, to make a change and show other Muslim girls that they have someone to look up to. I want them to know that their dreams of becoming a teacher are possible, too.

My want for being a teacher has been underlying my whole life. As a kid I loved school and I couldn't wait to go to school, however as I got older and progressed through high school and undergrad, there were many things that I questioned about how certain teachers taught. I questioned why some students understood the concept and others didn't, how much extra time some teachers put in to make my extra-curriculars so memorable, and how school is the only place that every youth has to go to etc. Initially in my undergrad, I thought I would pursue a career in the sport and health field. Meanwhile, I was tutoring all of my classmates in small group sessions for physics, biochemistry, and biomechanics to make sure everyone got the grades they needed. In my gap year after my undergrad, I really started to delve into what I wanted to do and my why's behind them. This is when teaching resurfaced as a career i've always thought about and now one i'm excited to pursue. I'm excited to be a teacher that meets students where they are, a coach for students to make lasting memories, and a safe space to look forward to daily. - Victoria

I grew up wanting to be a teacher as the teachers I had in my life greatly inspired me. When I got into grade 5 there was a real shift, and I stared really enjoying school. I realized it was the way I was being taught as I was actually interested in the material.

Since I was young, I always dreamed of becoming a teacher. While growing up, I was inspired by the many educators within my family to pursue a career in the field of education. As my life progressed, specifically in high school, I developed an appreciation and passion for mathematics. Now, I wish to become a high school mathematics teacher where I can share my passion for mathematics with students and share with them the joy of mathematics. Ultimately, I want to guide students to become their best self, where they discover what they’re passionate about!

I want to become a teacher because I enjoy interacting with students and seeing their growth in learning and knowing that I took a part in that. As a student, I liked being able to help my classmates whenever they were stuck on a problem or needed a little bit of explanation to understand a concept better. Being able to be someone people can rely on has always been something I have strived for.

The reason I am a teacher is that I'm very interested in a lot of things, and I want my students to be interested in a lot of things too.

In general we know that education is the most powerful and effective tool to build a better world, I wanted to be part in this process. But personally I wanted to be a teacher to become a better person in communication, parenting, and understanding how learning is happening, and how to build a better future through educating the generations who are becoming responsible individuals in the world in near future.

i want to be a teacher because i think what children learn, internalize and are socialized into as they grow, shapes who they are. I want to be apart of shaping that foundation.
