- Classical conditioning is a form of learning in which a new, involuntary response is acquired as a result of two stimuli being represented at the same time.
-When it is time to leave class the students begin to pack up. After a couple of times of this happening the teacher also begins to realize it is time to go based on the students packing up. Even if it isn't time to go and the teacher sees the students packing up he will automatically think it is time to go because he has been classically conditioned that when he sees the students packing up it is time to go.

-Operant conditioning involves voluntary behaviors and an association between a behavior and a consequence that follows it.
- You choose to drive the speed limit because you know if you don't the policeman will pull you over and give you a ticket.
-A consequence that makes the behavior more likely to occur is a reinforcement.
-A consequence that makes the behavior less likely to occur is a punishment.

-Positive reinforcement is when a behavior is added and the stimulus is strengthened/increasing.
-Ex: Because you have been working so hard at work your boss decides to give you a bonus so now you are more likely to keep working hard.
- Negative reinforcement is when a stimulus is taken away and the behavior is strengthened/increasing.
-Ex: A credit card company removes the late charge from your bill after you call and complain so now you are more likely to call other companies and complain in order to get rid of fees.
- Positive punishment is when a stimulus is taken away and the behavior is weakened/decreasing.
-Ex: You decided to speed so you got a speeding ticket now you are less likely to speed because you don't want another speeding ticket.
- Negative punishment is when a stimulus is taken away and the behavior is weakened/decreasing.
-Ex: Your car gets towed for illegally parking, now you aren't going to illegally park anymore because you don't want your car to get towed.
