The thought process of endless inventory is that music fans become so obsessed and have so much admiration for an artist that they begin to collect of there music as if it was theirs. This also include rare and unreleased material. He also speaks on being a completist which is the act of owner all the material an artist have release, which Ratliff has describe as impossible because he said that music is endless and is available everywhere. He also speaks on how endless inventory have affected certain artist like Mariah Carey and Marc Anthony. The collection of musical artist's music is now apart of the experience in music as if it was our own personal piece and we share the credit with the artist. It has know become accustomed to own every piece of music an artist have put out to show loyalty and how you are a true fan.

In the Book, Ratliff speaks on musical legend Mariah Carey and how her early music like vision of love was filled was beauty and hunger and how she wrote all her hits with at least one person. He then talks about her songs were hits because of her name. He then reversed it and said that because she went from lighthearted R&B soulful pop records to more hip-hop leaning urban pop with more producers on it, she lost her originality. I believe this is not fully accurate because she chose to do that with her career. She did more hip hop leaning stuff because that what she was raised on and it was selling. I think it boosted her career because like before she still wrote and produced her music it just wasn't traditionally the same. He also speaks how her music is too "commercial" to be collected like other artist but still have the quality to be.

Amy music for me kinda changed me. Its disappointing that i didn't get into her music until after she died. in chapter 10 Ratliff speaks on how many people try to attain peoples musics when they died or retire, and that was the deal for me. I've begin to watch her online concert listening to her b-sides and unreleased song. I memorized the words and meaning to her songs and bought her vinyls because i felt a connection to her music
