It is not justifiable as it can have serious ramifications on the victim, their community and relationships between authorities and minorities.

Regardless of what benefits that people think that racial profiling have, I strongly believe that the negative consequences heavily outweigh the supposed "pros". I think that those, including myself, that have not, experience racial profiling cannot understand how hard it is to live life knowing that people see you as a potential "suspect". Rather than feeling safe in a community, people that are racially profiled might feel as if they have enemies everywhere they turn, or that somehow, by the color of the skin, they have become the enemy. In other words, they would be living with fear every day. As to whether racial profiling leads to a safe society, I completely disagree. No where does it say that people of a certain skin color are going to commit for crimes than others. It this can be seen in society, it is only because we, the people who racially profile others, have forced them into that situation. Racial profiling, in no way, leads to a safe society.

In counter argument, there are instances where racial profiling is not what it seems. Many believe, as it is most prevalent in the law enforcement of society that this is apart of training. That officers are taught to card and racially profile minorities. Which is not necessarily the case, there is a method called "behavioral profiling" which is used. Where there are behavioral psychologists that aid law enforcement in finding criminals and suspects.

This is because minorities in the past were never given the same opportunities and were then forced to make certain decisions that have now impacted their reputation.

I believe that racial profiling is a consequence of one's own prejudices. If an officer stops a driver due to their ethnicity without a reason but simply because of their belief in a stereotype pertaining to the ethnicity of the stopped driver, that prejudice would indeed be the reason for the officer's racial profiling. Racial profiling is not justifiable. In fact, my father with a clean driving record has been stopped by an officer because he is an Asian man that according to the officer looked like another Asian man he stopped once before. That action is not okay, so my father took him to court and won. Just because a driver is Asian does not mean they can not drive! Also, assuming that one Asian is another or that they all look the same is a stereotype that is offensive to us Asians.

Even cases of people "pulling a gun" out of their pocket, creating an excuse for the officer to "defend" themselves by shooting them and killing the so called criminal.

No, it is not okay for police officers or any other law enforcement officers to racially profile people because it puts the minorities in the suspect area without investigation. It affects the person mentally too, knowing that people in law enforcements judge them just based on race.

Specifically in Canada, we are gradually working towards making amends with First Nations and Indigenous peoples due to the cruel mistreatment they have received in the past. Although this is a very slow process, it is becoming less taboo to discuss in a regular conversation. In fact, our school recently held a Truth and Reconciliation seminar; this presentation educated high school students about residential schools and displacement of Indigenous peoples during the last century. The kairos blanket exercise also provided a better understanding about Canadian history with First Nations, which I think is much more effective than learning about it through a textbook. It's important to first acknowledge the issue, discuss the various opinions, and then attempt to fix the underlying problem with the help of others.
