The Bill of Rights

The main reason why the Anti-Federalists opposed the Constitution so much was because it did not have Bill of Rights to protect the citizens from their government. They felt that a strong national government might take their rights that they had won during the revolution away. The Federalists on the other hand argued that the Constitution did not need a Bill of rights because the Constitution did not give the government the authority to violate the rights of the people. They also argued that a strong national government can protect the states/nation from enemies and solve the nations internal problems. In the end, the Anti-Federalists were in the favor of the Constitution when the Federalists promised to add a Bill of Rights to it.
